GRANTS BIG ONE

I sent a std PM to all Scottish members a couple of weeks back to try and guage reaction to a centrally located annual meet. 99% of you replied positively to the suggestion which i reckon is good enough to start the ball rolling.

I have contacted 3 locations regarding using thier facilities to host this event.

1. Doune Motor Museum

Carse of Cambus, Doune, Perthshire, FK16 6HD, Scotland

A84 at Doune

2. Blair Drummond Safari Park and Adventure Park

Blair Drummond

by Stirling

A84

3. MotorMania

76 Moss Road

Tillicoultry

Clackmannanshire

FK13 6NS

All 3 locations are centrally located in the Stirling area which is equidistant between Aberdeen and Dumfries.

Format for the day is yet undecided, ideas for the day gratefully received, as is the final location or date

Once the 3 locations get back to me i will post a poll asking what date would suit the majority of interested attendees. Once a date has been sorted a poll on the format of the day will be held and again we will go with the majority

As i said any ideas for the format of the day and the date, must include a date when ANDYJDMSTI is in the country. i.e May15th til June 1oth and Aug15 til Sept 10th

Your support is appreciated on this one and if we all get behind it i am sure it will be roaring success.

AS i said in the previous post. There is a lot of support for an informal meet in a central location and i thought since Andy mentioned it and there is a gfood possibility of it happening. So best to start early in the planning to get as many cars, old and new, there as possible.

This is not any kind of replacement for a National SIDC held at Alford or Knockhill, it is merely an informal gathering of cars at one location.

Some good suggestions so far on the format of the day ranging from a static meet with preprinted route maps for groups to go a run in the country then return to the main group area for a chat. Taking over a whole Scottish island ala Manx style. A weekend at a central trossachs campsite for beer and laughs. Good suggestions so far, keep them coming

Sorry to peeps that did not recieve a PM. I went back through about 6 pages of posts when the idea was first mooted and PMed everyone i could find that had there facility activated.

This is the PM is sent to all

Thinking about organising a meet that all of Scotland can get involved in.

The main item would be a central meeting point so that it is a fair distance for all to travel to.

i.e Stirling or Perth.

Time would be in the summer some time preferably.

i.e July or August

Please let me know your thoughts on this as it would be good to get all the Scoobies together

Sorry if any one felt left out

I have a hall with a bar a kitchen and a big carpark in Cumbernauld if you want to use that it would be ideal for a big meet. Its all modern and is looked after by me. I dont see my bosses grudging us use of it and It wouldnt cost us anything but I need to get the ball rolling asp if you want to use it. PM me your phone number if you want to come and have a look. Also, there is a sprint circuit on Bute and an events field nearbye for camping if you want to do a scottish version of the manx thing the english clubs enjoy. Once again you would have to give me time to press the flesh and sweet talk the estate into letting us use the circuit. Let me know what you all decide, but I have these things at my disposal.

An island excursion would be ace but could a be a nightmare with ferries unless it's something like Skye ( bridge obviously).

Camping at the Trossachs sound like a damn fine idea face-icon-small-smile.gif ( Camping is great besie the river with lots of room - you can walk to Aberfoyle for pubs etc and the Dukes pass is a wastegate flutter away face-icon-small-wink.gif

Wilky's idea sounds good too but i fear we may have to give funny hand shakes and follow bow to the lodge master face-icon-small-happy.gif

On a serious note - keep the ideas coming lads !

Do you think that we could hire Auchengillan ? It's north of Glasgow and very close to Loch Lomond / Trossachs. Some damn fine roads nearby it and can take a fair amount of cars. Camping / BBQ facilities are great.......

There's also THIS place near Edinburgh. Let's make this happen chaps face-icon-small-smile.gif

weekend with tents, barbie and prob rain sounds like a good laugh.

oh and maybe... just maybe some booze?

This could be a great weekend if the right camp site could be found.

What about asking the tourist board for a poss site?

How about camping on the isle of Arran, great driving and good facilities in the summer, my mate is the tourist manager and we would be well looked after, maybe a bit of paintball or something through the day and beer and stories at night , just a thought!!!!

Cal Mac will NEVER be able (or even think about trying) to handle the traffic.

Just ask Johnny Dumfries. face-icon-small-sad.gif

SIDC events will be on-going throughout the summer. face-icon-small-wink.gif
