andrew_duff Posted February 8, 2005 Posted February 8, 2005 After reading a viewpoint from the official Glasgow R.o I thought that i would start a post for the majority of people that have spoken to him on the idea of lanyards. Seeing as they didnt respond to the last poll .... saying whether they thought they were good bad or indiferent . Every time someone has an idea these same people dont try to come up with solutions but create more problems
jamie_wood Posted February 8, 2005 Posted February 8, 2005 Come on folks. Theres no need for this kind of behaviour on here. This is how problems kicked off over the road Problems with individual members on the forum should be addressed via Pm to the member in question at the time please. No need to drag it accross the forum.
robinh20mrv Posted February 8, 2005 Posted February 8, 2005 i back dougster all the way, he is a top guy! ROBINH20MRV
andrew_duff Posted February 8, 2005 Author Posted February 8, 2005 Jamie , i think you are missing the point . I dont have a problem with Dougster or anyone else for that matter as individuals. My problem is with all the wispering in the background instead of people giving there true opinions. Certain members are trying there hardest but others are determined its all been done , tried , said before. Whilst I appreciate this, because it failed with them they should be using there Knowledge to benifit, not to hinder others. Take this post in the way it was meant , get opinionated and stop agreaing with the been there tried that crew. Ive said it before and I WILL say it again Its not what we want as individuals but as a MAJORITY Andy
wrxmania Posted February 8, 2005 Posted February 8, 2005 There seems to be a reasonable list of folk wanting the lanyards on the other thread. Negative comments from Dougster were quite a while ago and the ones on the new thread are generally positive and only suggest logistical issues. I, like many others, agree with your points about collective Andy and good on you and Malky for getting the idea going. Brian
spooks Posted February 8, 2005 Posted February 8, 2005 My opinon is that I reckon overall its a good idea, sorry Andy but I had thought you asked SIDC to see if this was something they were gonna take on board with regards to membership. Spooks
wilky Posted February 8, 2005 Posted February 8, 2005 Guys, and this is to everyone involved in this AND other threads you can take from it what you want. The club doesnt need need this nonsense, Nor do we need shop stewards or bickering, snidey remarks or ill appreciated banter. I like a crack, I like sailing close to the wind with the moderators and winding people up, but its always in good faith and always tongue in cheek. I left SN because of the pish we are starting to see on this place now. This used to be sacred ground. Where people who enjoyed subaru and subaru things spoke. And thats the main reason the majority came to this sight when the SN defection happened. It was a turf where there was manners, a bit of banter and the moderators who were on the net and ran the club, were respected, thier word was final. Like a referee at an Old Firm match. If you seeked a reason for a decision it was given end of story, if you disagreed you spoke like adults and didnt do the he said she said, you not doing your job, we all want this so stuff you, nonsense. Incidentally, thats why they are there, moderators, or did you not know that? I dont want my club stuff displayed at chavtastic events, it gives the wrong impression its a club that respects the road the car and the owners, more importantly THE LAW. I dont want wee boys smoking thier tyres and burning out, and doughnuts associated with my club in a carpark. I dont want my club associated with trashy car magazines etc. Am I a scooby snob? Yes I probably am, but I dont have a flashy scooby, and I started off in a mini then a fiesta superport and drove crappy cars because I couldnt afford a nice car so dont start that nonsense either, Ask the majority of people on here and they will tell you the same, they are not rich or snobby but they want thier club to have a certain standing as well. As far as Hinting that a RO was misbehaving in a new borrowed car is outragous as well, not only is it a lie, it is damaging to him and the relationship the club has with the garage. Shame on you for even saying it in jest. If you want to drive to england to get a heavy tent to have it blown away at KH and for it to weigh a tonne once its wet, and try to dry it out and drive it back to england again, then crack on. Ide much rather use n the summer for the scottish big one, than mess about wasting money on it at this time of year. Or are you just causing trouble? Do you really need a tent to make you feel like a member of the gang? Lets raise money and buy our own, FFS. We dont need disharmony, nor do we need a union rep etc. If you dont like it go away and start your own car club that tolerates these arguments and s**tstirring. But dont do it here because this club and the vast majority of people in it are happy and dont want to see or hear it, we are happy with the club the way it is thank you. This used to be such a nice place, dont ruin it. Callum W
wrxmania Posted February 8, 2005 Posted February 8, 2005 I must be missing a point - where are all these comments??? I have been here since the start of Scottish Scoobies and lived through, took flak for and was involved in all the Scoobynet stuff at the time. SIDC is not like Scoobynet - that was a moderation issue - there are no moderation issues here as far as I can see - Dougster is the only moderator. If there are things to discuss, lets discuss them at a meeting, not online. Personal issues should not come into a car club - I don't see any with any other clubs I am a member of. For SIDC to be taken seriously it needs to be respected but not taken as a life and death matter. People come and go, people have "issues" and people annoy others at times but we all are here for the same reason - we like the Impreza and enjoying belonging to a club. I fully agree with the comments about burnouts, etc - the club must also have standards without being pompous. Let's drop the issue, discuss it in person and lock these threads. Brian
