andrew_duff Posted February 8, 2005 Posted February 8, 2005 What do the members of the SIDC expect out of the club ? ie. what events do you want to attend etc. Andy.
derek_robertson Posted February 8, 2005 Posted February 8, 2005 As many events/rallys as I can afford,donations welcome Del
fraser_drinkwater Posted February 8, 2005 Posted February 8, 2005 More runs in the wild as this is the reason why most of us bought the car we have or we should get the bus!
the squiggle Posted February 8, 2005 Posted February 8, 2005 As official run organiser for Scottishscoobies, or do you want to take that off me George, rest assured there are 3+ runs in the sticks planned for this year As for what i want from the club, simple, people to talk to about a commen love of the marque Subaru Grant
andrew_duff Posted February 8, 2005 Author Posted February 8, 2005 Yes Dave I am , if I wasn't a member I would't be so vocal . Do you require my membership no. seeing as you asked. Andy
~ ~ Cal ~~ Posted February 8, 2005 Posted February 8, 2005 Relative newbie so take it easy on me if this sorta stuff is already in place ? ******************************************** Karting at Tranent More track days (maybe unrealistic saying as not so many Scoob owners do them ) More Discounts More Action ( runs ) More involvement from dealers ( unlikely ?) BUT most importantly for Ecosse - a phpBB2 style forum or equivalent ( again discussed @ length and maybe wont come to fruitition) Just my 2p's worth Cal
fraser_drinkwater Posted February 8, 2005 Posted February 8, 2005 cal i can help with the dealer thing, but i will bring it up a killie to see what the majority want.
andrew_duff Posted February 8, 2005 Author Posted February 8, 2005 Cal .. youve got the idea Lets hear from the rest of you and maybey instead of waisting time slagging ideas off you might use this post to come up with ideas of your own. Andy
zeolite Posted February 8, 2005 Posted February 8, 2005 Rally marshalling is another option. There are some members very active in motorsport and some very keen marshals too. There is a road rallying thread running also. Again there is a fair bit of experience available in the club. Track days are excellent. The Alford day particularly. I was on the Loch Lomond run last year and it was excellent. Plenty of simple people to talk to as well. (I know there was a comma!)
fraser_drinkwater Posted February 8, 2005 Posted February 8, 2005 I like the marshalling idea, then we could see proper drivers!
spooks Posted February 8, 2005 Posted February 8, 2005 Well at the mo Im trying to organise Driving techniques day, marshalling course ( Ian I'll be phoning you soon), karting and a talk by the traffic police. Ive spoken to a few members about these and had a good response so far. UntillI have costs etc I havent said anything so believe me Im trying to do things for the members. Not done anything about rally and runs as I know that Del and grant do them Also trying to bolster suport in Edinburgh and lothians that basically aprt from the die hards there aint a lot of things happening. Thats all for the moment, but we are trying to organise a small get together at KH soon, so all Ro's can get on the same page. Spooks
spooks Posted February 8, 2005 Posted February 8, 2005 Oh meant to say please if anyone does have ideas.....................LET US KNOW ............. hehe were not mind readers. Please contact me or any other RO'sfor that matter via PM e-mail or MSN. We dont bite ya know Spooks
wilky Posted February 8, 2005 Posted February 8, 2005 Guys, and this is to everyone involved in this AND other threads you can take from it what you want. The club doesnt need need this nonsense, Nor do we need shop stewards or bickering, snidey remarks or ill appreciated banter. I like a crack, I like sailing close to the wind with the moderators and winding people up, but its always in good faith and always tongue in cheek. I left SN because of the pish we are starting to see on this place now. This used to be sacred ground. Where people who enjoyed subaru and subaru things spoke. And thats the main reason the majority came to this sight when the SN defection happened. It was a turf where there was manners, a bit of banter and the moderators who were on the net and ran the club, were respected, thier word was final. Like a referee at an Old Firm match. If you seeked a reason for a decision it was given end of story, if you disagreed you spoke like adults and didnt do the he said she said, you not doing your job, we all want this so stuff you, nonsense. Incidentally, thats why they are there, moderators, or did you not know that? I dont want my club stuff displayed at chavtastic events, it gives the wrong impression its a club that respects the road the car and the owners, more importantly THE LAW. I dont want wee boys smoking thier tyres and burning out, and doughnuts associated with my club in a carpark. I dont want my club associated with trashy car magazines etc. Am I a scooby snob? Yes I probably am, but I dont have a flashy scooby, and I started off in a mini then a fiesta superport and drove crappy cars because I couldnt afford a nice car so dont start that nonsense either, Ask the majority of people on here and they will tell you the same, they are not rich or snobby but they want thier club to have a certain standing as well. As far as Hinting that a RO was misbehaving in a new borrowed car is outragous as well, not only is it a lie, it is damaging to him and the relationship the club has with the garage. Shame on you for even saying it in jest. If you want to drive to england to get a heavy tent to have it blown away at KH and for it to weigh a tonne once its wet, and try to dry it out and drive it back to england again, then crack on. Ide much rather use n the summer for the scottish big one, than mess about wasting money on it at this time of year. Or are you just causing trouble? Do you really need a tent to make you feel like a member of the gang? Lets raise money and buy our own, FFS. We dont need disharmony, nor do we need a union rep etc. If you dont like it go away and start your own car club that tolerates these arguments and s**tstirring. But dont do it here because this club and the vast majority of people in it are happy and dont want to see or hear it, we are happy with the club the way it is thank you. This used to be such a nice place, dont ruin it. Callum W
~ ~ Cal ~~ Posted February 8, 2005 Posted February 8, 2005 << runs round the room dishing out chill pills >> Scott, A demo from the traffic cops would be an EXCELLENT idea ! They could appreciate our thoughts and vice versa. Then show us their arsenal and do a live demo etc etc. Might be a bone of contention in here but I think most people would welcome it and so would the traffic........ A driving course would be great too :- I have done 4 defensive driving ones but would prefer a more sporting lesson if you catch my drift. Having only had my car 3 weeks I'm sh1t scared to go quickly round corners as they are heavy mutha's. You do learn a lot @ KH but i think Also :- are their any SIDC "home-made" videso of track action / sprint trials etc etc Alford is also fantastic and gets lots of people into track days in a relatively safe environment. I'm looking forward the Kames. I'd love to do the IOM and 'Ring / Spa but realise they are a nighmare to organise.......... A summer weekend run way up north with camping / B&B's would be nice too...... Cal p.s does anyone think our numbers are pretty low in comparison to number of owners in Scotland ? ( despite the fact the forums are busy) I suppose this section of the SIDC is still relatively young though p.p.s re : lanyards etc :- we could also use our coupons for avatars ? Maybe not a great idea but it would be some much easier to associate user-names & faces.
gordon_kerr Posted February 8, 2005 Posted February 8, 2005 Hi all , i joined the sidc about 3 weeks ago, i aint looking for very much as realistically what can you buy for £30 these days, however after saying that , the advice i have already had from more experienced members is probably worth the £30 alone, keep up the good work guys n gals, and btw i am totally in favour of no nonsense or snide remarks as that kinda stuff would bore me really quickly
CAZ1562 Posted February 8, 2005 Posted February 8, 2005 << A demo from the traffic cops would be an EXCELLENT idea >> I did try this in 2002 but we couldn't get a venue sorted in time
spooks Posted February 8, 2005 Posted February 8, 2005 << << A demo from the traffic cops would be an EXCELLENT idea >> I did try this in 2002 but we couldn't get a venue sorted in time >> Shhhhhh Spooks
ANDYJDMSTI Posted February 8, 2005 Posted February 8, 2005 Traffic cop demo.................right lads make your cars legal!!!!! you just know they will be sharking Callum...................agree with everything you say bud What i think we should be concentrating on is an SBO (Scottish Big One) instead of NBO, JAPFEST etc lets get SCOTTISH SCOOBIES ON THE MAP PROPERLY. We have already made an excellent start with all the meets/ inter meets/ trackdays etc so lets get all forces together and make a joint effort to get a massive gathering together for the summer over a weekend or even a saturday and sunday with camping. We had an excellent turn out last year for the Loch Lomond trip that me, Squirrel and Imy sorted, why cant we do the same this year but on a bigger scale with a static venue but with also trips out on the road too on routes that are recce'd and route carded so that peeps can go out in groups when they want but end up at site for bbq/ chats/ camping and piss up. Just a thought!!!!!! Just make sure it is organised when i have time off will be home from May15th til June 1oth and Aug15 til Sept 10th
andrew_duff Posted February 8, 2005 Author Posted February 8, 2005 Looks like their are plenty of diverse ideas out there to suite everyone All we need to do is get them organised and were cooking with Gas Andy.
gordon_kerr Posted February 9, 2005 Posted February 9, 2005 Sounds fantastic Andy, count me in !!!! and vixter if i ever manage to get hold of her lol, she will be my co-pilot

Done a bit of research into a SBO and it is looking good to go, waiting on Blair Drummond and Motormania to get back to me. I sent out a std PM to all members that had thier PM facility activated, asking if they would be intrested in attending a centrally located SBO. 99% of peeps who replied did so with great enthusiasm. Only 1% replied disfavourably, you know who you are Mr 1%, to the suggestion. I think there will be enough support there to pull this event off and the ball has started rolling. Grant
