gordon_kerr Posted February 2, 2005 Posted February 2, 2005 I have had this guy offer me a brand new sti 2005 version which is imported from japan for about £6000 less than the uk list price, he assures me it is full uk spec ( right hand drive) etc etc and they will pay for all paperwork , registration etc and give a full 3 year manufacturers warranty and 3 year roadside assisitance, through your broad knowledge base can as many of you as possible let me know of any implications or things i should be asking this guy, is the jap spec lower than here as i am sure i have read negative feedback about this. Thank you all Gordon
jamie_wood Posted February 2, 2005 Posted February 2, 2005 Would advise you to check out the warranty side of this purchase. Not too sure how manufacturers warranty works on Jap cars?? Someone else on here should know?? Or call your local dealer and ask them if they can help. Sorry, but I aint in the know about this. My car was imported from Japan in Nov 2003, new, and i didnt have a Subaru warranty anyway, just a poor dealer one
ANDYJDMSTI Posted February 2, 2005 Posted February 2, 2005 Sounds like you are getting a bloody good deal there but i would be very cautious. i have had 2 imports now and have never heard of them getting 3 years subaru warranty, the most i got was the one year from the dealer with the option to extend it for about £500 a year once that has run out. I dont even think the Euro imports get the subaru warranty, i may be wrong but it is something you really have to look into to make sure. Another thing that i would be asking is why is it £6000 cheaper???? that is a big big saving especially when they are going to be paying all the documentation costs etc. So how is this outfit going to make a profit unless they got the car for absolute buttons...................buttons for a MY05 STI????..mmmmm not convinced!!! you never know you may be the lucky one and stumbled upon a legitimate once in a lifetime bargain. as for the spec, yes the jap imports are much better spec'd than their uk counterparts and have more power. All i can say is delve deeply and find out as much as you can about this car. good luck
