st3ph3n Posted January 27, 2005 Posted January 27, 2005 I wasn't working in my usual office today, so I had a nice wee trip down the back way to deepest darkest south east ayrshire. My route took me along the A70 from where it meets the M74, all the way to just past Ochiltree. About 30 miles of really good A road. Plenty of twists and turns of all sorts. Only a couple of villages to slow down for, and only got caught in traffic a few times, there and back. Well worth the drive if anyone is down that way.
CAZ1562 Posted January 27, 2005 Posted January 27, 2005 Its worth reading this as it shows you can also become a death statistic as well
the squiggle Posted January 27, 2005 Posted January 27, 2005 Me i do deliveries round that area in a Merc Sprinter. Top quality roads in that general area but i would head a wee tad south past Bigger on to the A701 for an even better road On a flip side to Caz's post ...... the roads down there can kill you but they can also make you world champion, its where McRae cut his teeth Grant
st3ph3n Posted January 27, 2005 Author Posted January 27, 2005 caz, I wasn't going THAT fast. It was a spirited drive, I'll grant you that, but no cutting corners or taking wild overtaking chances. I've driven the road a few times before, and been driven on it, as the company I work for has a large number of sites just off it. It was the first time I'd had the chance to do it since I got my Impreza though. If I saw a coal truck, or other truck coming the other way I backed off because some of the cornering they do is SCARY.
