The Millenium Falcon Has her First Guest Test Pilot!

Recommended Posts

Today, The Millenium Falcon had her first external validation since her rebuild, for those of you who dont catch my drift, I had an STI 7 short motor put into an STI 2, there was much weeping and whailing but it went in and is producing the goods. The map is the old one and she needs mapped again but running 17psi with the front mount, innerwing induction, light pullies, manifold spacers, possumlink, scoobysport group A downpipe, magnex system, knifedged throttlebody, everything ported and matched, cusco suspension front and rear, top and bottom strut braces, brembo brakes, gramlight wheels, this is what dougster had to say..........................................

Rock solid and a little rattly but what can you expect from the Falcon. face-icon-small-wink.gif

The warp drive IS in place however and once mapped BEWARE!!!!

It's a pity the captain had the jitters and had to fly me back home himself!!!! face-icon-small-happy.gifface-icon-small-happy.gifface-icon-small-happy.gif

Cheers Derek!

One mistake I have rectified since my rebuild is I have binned any notions of getting chavtastic wheels. What I mean is anything bigger than 17inches. The gearbox in a classic early Impreza is a box designed in the 60s and cut its teeth in the late 70s, so its not designed to deal with the kind of inerta a large, heavy wheel will produce, just shaving 1.5 kg off the weight of each wheel is similar to having 4 blokes get out your car!!! I only became privvy to this info last year and its probably contributes to the death of many a gearbox. Trying to put torque over 300ib/ft with big wheels wont help either. light wheels has made such a difference, Im so glad I sold my heavy ones to Rob in !face-icon-small-wink.gif

Indeed it would my bespeckled friend! People have no idea how much they are slowing thier cars down by putting nice looking, but heavy weighing wheels on. If you like the looks, good on you! But if you get tastey with the loud pedal, your going to consume more petrol to get the same preformance, and slow yourself down a bit, not to mention higher risk of your engine lunching on your gearbox!! Buy liteweight forged alloy jap wheels like rays or Volk if you want big wheels, or stick with lighter 17s if you cant stand 16s.

Yes they are lighter, but gramlights, Ultralights, or Volks e37 are better. You have a six speed which can handle the inertia, but heavy will slow you, in the words of Sir Colin Chapman, founder of Lotus "Light =quick!"

Buddy Clubs are a nightmare to get, once you have sold your soul for english Gold, you have to wait 6 weeks on a slow boat from China until they arrive. Ultralights have a distributor who has a stock in UK and are more "Weapon to task".

Buddy Clubs are for Poofs who like wee Boys! face-icon-small-wink.gif

<< All I know are my Radius R3s are heavier than Andy's wallet!!! face-icon-small-shocked.gifface-icon-small-happy.gifface-icon-small-happy.gif

But I am a tart at heart!! face-icon-small-wink.gif >>

Heavier than Andy's wallet now come on thats just being silly. IMHO the best wheels for a Scoob are the Rays Engineering 16 inch alloys that were std fit on the S201. They were made by Volk and i believed there were based on the TE-37 but were lighter in colour with the STI centre cap.

The tart bit is completely true. No arguments there at all.

Nail right on the head me old fruiter, JVS have them on their own Impreza, hard to get, hard to talk someone into selling!face-icon-small-frown.gif

It really does affect your preformance though, and heavy rims will bugger a fivespeed, any comments Grant?
