martinl Posted January 3, 2005 Posted January 3, 2005 I have four gold 17" wheels that I would like to get powder coated black [dont ask]. Can anyone on here recommend a place in or around Aberdeen and would I be right in thinking about £50 per wheel. Cheers. Martin
scuba dou Posted January 3, 2005 Posted January 3, 2005 Martin, Go to PPS at Inveruire. Young Keith Paterson is the fellow to talk to. They did the work on my engine bay, roll bar, the Sti pink wheels, etc. Great work?.at the right price! 01467 621907. Think Keith might not be back until Wed this week.
martinl Posted January 3, 2005 Author Posted January 3, 2005 Cheers jools, Ill give them a call when I get home . While I'm on here. I am thinking of getting the anti-lift kit, uprated steering bushes and uprated drop lonks front and back along with the laser geo set up down at AWD in Perth. Then uprate the front and rear antiroll bars. Jools are these good mods to go for ????? Cheers Martin
WUZ Posted January 3, 2005 Posted January 3, 2005 You only need to uprate the front link if you have a WRX as the STI's all have steel droplinks at the front! As for the rest of it! YES! Russell ps - Jools is right, speak to KeithyP at PPS!
martinl Posted January 4, 2005 Author Posted January 4, 2005 Cheers for that Wuz. I have a set of sti7 wheels that I want to use for the track and from past experience they take half a day to clean after a track sesh. So I thought powder coat them black. Laters
scuba dou Posted January 4, 2005 Posted January 4, 2005 Martin, Just like Wuz says regarding front end. Along with Prodrive springs, this mod is one of the cheapest and significant changes you will make to the car. Transforms the machine, feels much better and stays planted through the corner. There was some footage of my car at Alford compared to other Sti?s and you can visually see the difference in the stance and exit speed of the car as it comes through the corners. Rob D and I are running winter tyres on our cars through the winter and boy what a difference they make. Night and day. Highlight of last year for me was towing an L200 pickup up the hill as you leave Inveruire heading towards Keithhall. When I stopped and offered the lady a tow, she said but I have 4WD, I said but I have AWD and Winter tyres fitted (wink). I pulled her up the hill in second gear quite briskly; lets say?.and she then said the pick up had never gone up the hill that quick on dry roads! Regarding wheels, what?s wrong with Sti pink, rather than black????
~ ~ Cal ~~ Posted January 4, 2005 Posted January 4, 2005 Alford vids that Jools speaks of in here :- CLICKY
martinl Posted January 4, 2005 Author Posted January 4, 2005 PINK!!, no its got to be bllack. PINK ! So forget the front drop links. I dont need snow tyres on the WR1, the defender 90 copes well enough with the BFGoodroidge on. Cal the vid clips wont come up on this comp for some reason, Bad URL or sommat PINK!!!
martinl Posted January 5, 2005 Author Posted January 5, 2005 Sorry Cal, the system/firewall or what ever on the boat is not allowing me to veiw the clips. Just recieved an indepth email from Whiteline in Aus. Them boys seem to know their stuff. Cant wait to get home and spend some money.
fraser_drinkwater Posted January 5, 2005 Posted January 5, 2005 i cat seem to get your pics and stuff, dude
Carl Davey Posted January 5, 2005 Posted January 5, 2005 Aaaah, top work Cal. Got BB installed last month so i can now see what everyone's been talking about for the past year!
viperliz Posted January 5, 2005 Posted January 5, 2005 Taking in my wheels in for powder coating tomorrow...£40 per wheel
martinl Posted January 6, 2005 Author Posted January 6, 2005 £40 a wheel thats a good price, is that out at Inverurie????? You getting them in pink too!!!????!!!! [sorry jools]
eddiec Posted January 6, 2005 Posted January 6, 2005 so they refurb them too ?? mine have a few kerb marks and would need to be "tidied" a bit before a repaint
scuba dou Posted January 6, 2005 Posted January 6, 2005 If they have light kerbing marks they can dress them no problem, but if you have major dents and dinks in them then they may need further treatment from a wheel specialist. Core Business for PPS is Glass Fibre, Carbon Fibre and Powder Coating for industrial business. Young Keith Paterson does the wheels as a side line and is always ready to help fellow Scooby enthusiasts at very competitive prices indeed Give him a call!
viperliz Posted January 6, 2005 Posted January 6, 2005 I am now delayed as I managed to "round" my locking wheel nut tool.....FECK!
scuba dou Posted January 8, 2005 Posted January 8, 2005 Keith will take them in anytime, no probs there. Guess you are sorted now
