derek_robertson Posted January 13, 2005 Author Posted January 13, 2005 Hi Folks An excellent turnout lastnight, well done to all of you who braved the elements to get there One of the best meets I've been to, even though we changed venue after an hour into meet due to a power cut A lot of good suggestions put forward for upcoming events, meets etc. Also good suggestions for enticing new members to the club. I have passed these suggestions upstairs Will keep you 'orrible lot posted By the way, ma guts has bin churnin aw day eftir eatin that greezburger!!!!! See yas soon, drive mentally, Del PS. A suggestion has been made to have the next meet at Kilmarnock, either BK,KFC or Parched Poet. The latter has inadequate parking IMO,what do you think people?????? Answers on a postcard
andrew_duff Posted January 13, 2005 Posted January 13, 2005 Del , the proposed future venue is called THE COTTON MILL just near crosshouse hospital very nice with loads of car parking etc. Could be interesting an invisable regional organisor and a deaf regional organisor --------- sounds like the start of a beautifull frendship Andy
ian_craig2 Posted January 13, 2005 Posted January 13, 2005 For sale 1 wrx Wanted wr1 Looking forward to the next meet at Killie Mcdonalds or was it the Hunting Lodge or the Burns Tavern, Bellfield.....???
derek_robertson Posted January 13, 2005 Author Posted January 13, 2005 Andy Hearing aid was on fool,errr....I mean full I was listening,I know the "proposed venue". Was merely stating another members proposal to have the venue elsewhere as the grub/drink is overpriced/crap at these (BF) places. I'm in favour of The Cotton Mill Cheers big ears, Del
derek_robertson Posted January 13, 2005 Author Posted January 13, 2005 Mr.Invisable YHPM2M8 Deeeeeafffy
dougster Posted January 13, 2005 Posted January 13, 2005 Beers are in Del. One in the chamber with more in the clip, just for the Ayrshire internet terrorists.
Bladerider Posted January 13, 2005 Posted January 13, 2005 Kilmarnock for the next meet sounds good. If it's already been decided on the Brewers Fayre pub I'll go with that, as I've not been to that one before, but there are more interesting choices. For a future meet in Kilmarnock, how about "The Garage". Make it a day time weekend meet (just for a change) It has a pub, a Wimpy, a ten pin bowling alley, but more relevant to us, it has an indoor kart track. Anybody fancy a wee race? Anyway Del, who said the Parched Poet has limited parkiing? There is a massive car park (at the Odeon) with the choice of the Parched Poet, Burgler king, or Unlucky Fried Kitten. (come on guys, anything but Brewers Fayre again)
derek_robertson Posted January 13, 2005 Author Posted January 13, 2005 Hi Dave It was generally agreed that the next meet would be at The Cotton Mill on the 11th of feb. I think we are all agreed on having the meets at the same place on the 11th day each month,at present we are trying several diferent venues till we get the right one.Iff the cotton mill doesn't suit everyone then I'm sure that view will be voiced on here. As kilmarnock is central to ayrshire it seems the obvious choice & easy to travel to for most people. We could meet up at the garage some weekend for the gokarts/tenpin bowling. Most of the monthly meets are during the week. The 1st weekend meet is in june,a saturday. We could organise "the garage" for then. hope this helps, Del
dougster Posted January 13, 2005 Posted January 13, 2005 Del, I spoke with Grant last night and discussed the possible pit falls of having a meet on a certain date of each month. The tried and tested format which seems to work better is the first Tuesday of every month. This years calendar would have more 11ths on a weekend night (3 friday, 2 sunday, 1 saturday) and I feel a better turnout may happen on a regular Tuesday evening. Finding a good venue will be tricky, and you will never suit everyone, but good luck.
Rice Rocket Posted January 13, 2005 Posted January 13, 2005 I cant do tuesday nights, so i won't be making the meets. Ricey
dougster Posted January 13, 2005 Posted January 13, 2005 As I said you can't please everyone!!! And when did you live in Ayrshire? I'll make the Glasgow meets a Monday (if that's alright with Ricey?)
Rice Rocket Posted January 13, 2005 Posted January 13, 2005 ;-) cheers bud! and I live in Ayrshire and East Kilbride, 2 homes me ;-) Ricey
wrxmania Posted January 13, 2005 Posted January 13, 2005 A fixed night seems a good idea as they often have for the Aberdeen or Dundee meets - a set night each month ie a Tuesday etc... A fixed date is also easy but I know it would cause issues for me on certain nights! Not that I mind travelling for hours to attend meets, especially if they are as well attended as this weeks was. Seemed to be productive and well organised too - well done Del!!! Kilmarnock is a good location though for most people. Brian
ian_craig2 Posted January 13, 2005 Posted January 13, 2005 eeeeeek a weekend in THE GARAGE not me mate i only train in 3 martial arts you need at least 4 for that carry on! plus no parking and the beggars get stolen great night eh?
derek_robertson Posted January 14, 2005 Author Posted January 14, 2005 << I cant do tuesday nights, so i won't be making the meets. Ricey >> That's why I & others think that keeping the same date each month will give everybody the oportunity to come to at least more than one meet a year Sticking to the first tuesday,or any day for that matter, of the month doesn't work out for everybody as Ricey has stated above. As for weekend meets, the sunday meet that we had down ayr shore went well with over a dozen cars turning up.Also had a sat meet at pizza hut which went well again. So I think that answers the weekends not being a problem to most people. It also doesn't matter where you stay, whether it be glasgow, edinburgh or timbuctoo, you will be made most welcome at ayrshire meets.Other car clubs are welcome to come along too. Cheers folks, Del
andrew_duff Posted January 14, 2005 Posted January 14, 2005 Well said Del, as was discused at the meeting the night changing monthly may help attract more people and as discussed moving arround until we find the right venue is ideal
dougster Posted January 14, 2005 Posted January 14, 2005 Feel free Del, I was only stating my opinion. I'm not the Ayrshire RO.
derek_robertson Posted January 14, 2005 Author Posted January 14, 2005 Hey Ollie What date is Donny this year? Didn't have the trumpet in my lughole properly the other night Cheers, Stanleeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
andrew_duff Posted January 14, 2005 Posted January 14, 2005 Dates 9th - 10th of April Stan are u interested in going ? Maybey we could ask the monkey , or would that break up our double act Big Ollie or is that Andy?
derek_robertson Posted January 14, 2005 Author Posted January 14, 2005 Why not start a new thread Andy, see what response you get. Might be a few wanting to go & as you've been going the past 4 years you'll know more about it Go-on,go-on.go-on Del
