CAZ1562 Posted November 9, 2002 Posted November 9, 2002 Latest - Drive will be reconstructing their dealership very soon. The Subaru showroom will be replacing the Nissan showroom at the Shell end of the building. The existing workshop (in the middle at present)is being converted into the Nissan showroom. At the rear of the building a new "All-In-One" workshop is being built to house all 3 manufacturer's, Rover, Subaru & Nissan. As for the technical side of things, they currently employee 2 dedicated Subaru fully trained technician's. One of whom has been on the STi approved training course. Do not be too concerned at leaving your pride & joy with the mechanic for it to be driven by the "geek" 17 yr old boy racer. Company policy only allow the experienced mechanic/driver to ever roadtest your Impreza. I've a meeting early next week to attempt to arrange discount for SIDC members and see what open days they could also help with. They also recognise the lack of Subaru support in this area and are willing to offer quality service at very competitive prices compared to T&C Perth etc. I hope this helps build up your confidence in this new dealership (remember it takes time to build up a trustworthy name) WATCH THIS SPACE !!!!!!
CAZ1562 Posted November 14, 2002 Author Posted November 14, 2002 Excellent news - DRIVE Falkirk are willing to offer discount on Parts, Labour & accessories for all current SIDC members. Please show your valid membership card when ordering parts/booking service etc. The rate of discount is at the discretion of DRIVE. We will also attempt to organise showroom visits/open days when the new MY2003 launch takes place in 1Q 2003. DRIVE management is also willing to offer any advice or technical assistance etc to any member who requires it. Just speak to Derek MacRae (sales exec) or Bill Dean (After sales GM). Once the building work is complete, each section of the workshop will split into separate areas as mentioned above giving each manufacturer its own work bays.
cameron_leask Posted December 12, 2002 Posted December 12, 2002 Derek, have you got a phone number for them? With the demise of Kings in Aberfeldy (OK the sales part at least) I might nip round and try them out... Cameron
blue boy Posted January 31, 2003 Posted January 31, 2003 Hi, Can you please expand on the services offered by Kings of Aberfeldy? Is the nearest Subaru Dealership to Aberfeldy in Perth or Falkirk? Cheers, Blue Boy
cameron_leask Posted January 31, 2003 Posted January 31, 2003 BlueBoy Kings is now called Girvans of Aberfeldy. Girvans no longer have a Subaru sales franchise, but the mechanics, parts and paintshop teams are still the same (well, they were the last time I was up in late November!). I would imagine that they can still offer subaru genuine parts (therefore appropriate for Warranty work iirc?) and they still know their way around a Scoob and I know that Stevie in the bodyshop still does excellent work nearest dealer depends on where you are really but you've got the option of T&C in Perth, the guy at Forfar (whose name escapes me at the moment) or of course Drive in Falkirk and Nobles in Penicuik. Does that help? Cameron
cameron_leask Posted January 31, 2003 Posted January 31, 2003 Just reread your post. I'm fairly certain the nearest dealer to Aberfeldy would be Town & County at Perth... Cameron
blue boy Posted January 31, 2003 Posted January 31, 2003 Cameron, Thanks for that! I am up in that neck of the woods in the summer and like to know where appropriate garages are in case of need. As a Scouser I also know of the need to suss out secure Parking and wonder whether you know of any in Perth, Stirling and Edinburgh? If you do directions would be useful. Cheers, Blue Boy
cameron_leask Posted January 31, 2003 Posted January 31, 2003 SOrry Blueboy, Don't know of any secure parking facilities. I doubt if any even exist in Perth!
tud Posted February 1, 2003 Posted February 1, 2003 i would recommend T+C perth to anyone, thats where i got my car and they were excellent and their after sales service is second to none. steven
tino Posted February 4, 2003 Posted February 4, 2003 I'm really glad to hear you are getting good service from T&C.Probably buying it ther helps a lot!I have to admit my previous experience with them was not so good,(maybe people with Euro imports are not welcome.I was made to feel rather like a turd in a swimming pool!) A short while after a T&C service I changed my oil as I was going to a Track Day (always a good idea!) It was then I found that they had left two of my 'sump guard' bolts loose. They were literally hanging on by 2 threads.Next to my horror I discovered that the underside of my engine was liberally coated with oil. This was due to the fact that the 'mechanic' had not bothered to remove the old sump plug seal and just put the new one on top.Normally with the flat copper washer type seal this would not have been a problem. However the Subaru uses a compressable 'copper o ring' Not removing the old one results in it deforming the new one on top of it when tightening the plug.Hence leakage! Hope you continue to recieve good service! Regards
tino Posted February 13, 2003 Posted February 13, 2003 Took car to Drive Falkirk (Morrisons) for service and to have a dent in my bonnet repaired. Very pleased with the result! Got 10% SIDC discount on labour and parts for service! Discount not applicable to body shop as this is not specifically a Subaru workshop. However the repairs to bonnet came in as per quote (no hidden surprises!) and the quality of repair/paint finish is excellent! A courtesay car was supplied as requested (recommend you book in advance for this) and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. When I collected the car it was cleaned inside and out. (Quite a feat as, when I handed it in, it was honkin'!) I'd recommend their workshop to anyone. Regards Tino
