stephen_fergus2 Posted October 7, 2004 Author Posted October 7, 2004 << Whats L.V??? Hope it aint something I should have known >> Have u been living on another planet ?? Only kidding .. Just that I've posted so many posts of my dealings with LIVERPOOL VICTORIA Insurance that I thought EVERYBODY would be sick of the sight of them ! Here .. THAT L.V. thread .. Anyway , thanks for your sympathy .. Didn't know the scoob could be so infectious . Cheers, Steve
dougster Posted October 7, 2004 Posted October 7, 2004 Blx. You aint tried hard enough IMHO. Underlying cause for sale? Don't frighten off everyone from scooby ownership m8!
stephen_fergus2 Posted October 7, 2004 Author Posted October 7, 2004 Dougster ... << Blx. You aint tried hard enough IMHO. >> Oh really ! Let me see now ... Phoned round EVERY SINGLE F*CKING INSURANCE COMPANY possible ( AND I DO MEAN EVERY COMPANY ! ) and the cheapest quote was £1380 ! Well f*ck me but I'm not made of money and not prepared to be have the ar*e ripped out of me with a £400 increase . I think it's just plain madness paying that and it's just not worth it . TBH Dougster I don't you have the right to say that ..It's all very well that you pay £600 but if you were in my shoes , I'm sure you would think twice , unless you're a fool , which you're not . << Underlying cause for sale? >> Yes .. the cost of insuring it ! << Don't frighten off everyone from scooby ownership m8! >> How am I ? I'm just stating that the cost of the insurance has forced me to get rid of my car .. that's all . I'm not going on about the threat of car-jacking , car theft , or anything like that ! .. which is what a lot of people post about the dangers of owning a scoob that we all know about . Steve
dougster Posted October 7, 2004 Posted October 7, 2004 Whatever Steve. I know from experience that we have 23 year olds running about in JDM 7s with legit fully comp policys and paying less than you. Tell them you have an Sti scoop and ins companys will freak.
ian_craig2 Posted October 8, 2004 Posted October 8, 2004 fao dougster... bit .. well a lot out of order there bud, the guy is having to sell his pride and joy because he wont pay through the nose to LV an your having a pop!! everyone knows its high inc for a scoob he aint saying anything but the truth so wheres yer point? underlying cause for sale ?? dont want to drive an estate car like you??
derek_robertson Posted October 8, 2004 Posted October 8, 2004 Hi Steve, Sorry to hear about your predicament Hope everything works out & you manage to aquire another scoob in the near future. Best of luck, Del
jamie_wood Posted October 8, 2004 Posted October 8, 2004 Steve Suppose you have haed it a hundred times, but, have you tried Elephant?? I'm with them , and have been for about 3 or 4 years and I was around 22 or 23 when i was insuring scoobys with them and i paid around £500 and still do. Sorry to keep bringing it up.. Jamie
stephen_fergus2 Posted October 8, 2004 Author Posted October 8, 2004 Hi Soob, Yup .. £ 1580 .. ... thanks anyway . As I said in the 2nd post , I tried everybody quoting PPP , Springs + strutbrace with 5yrs NCD .. Including Elephant, Dir Line , Admiral , Nor Union, Privelidge , AA , KwikFit , Adrian Flux , Bell Direct , One Insurance , More Than - who wont even insure New AgeScoobs ! , the ones recommended on SIDC earlier , even ones in the back of Max Power ( ) . Cheapest was £1380 thro Privelidge .. I spent 2 days phoning round , Cheers Del , BTW , I'll be back .. Steve
ian_craig2 Posted October 8, 2004 Posted October 8, 2004 hey steve want a lift to the next meet or are you gettin the bus?
dougster Posted October 8, 2004 Posted October 8, 2004 I just don't beleive everyone on here is paying over a grand for insurance. Even when I had zero NCB and my girlfriend on the policy at 28 I was still under £900. (and not even L&V!!!!!!!) So who's having a pop now Grasshopper??
ian_craig2 Posted October 8, 2004 Posted October 8, 2004 i never said everyone was paying over a grand so no me
WRC No 1 Posted October 8, 2004 Posted October 8, 2004 Well i pay £1502 a year and that is fully comp with break down cover any where. and thats telling them every thing about the car. that includes a tracker system + cat 1 alarm and i am only 25 with NCB. thats is s**t but i want my scooby. (wullie)
jamie_wood Posted October 8, 2004 Posted October 8, 2004 Dougster, when you were 28???? Subaru hadn't even been thought off. £900 must have been for your model "T" LOL
wrxmania Posted October 8, 2004 Posted October 8, 2004 Points being missed here too - new age cars are more expensive to insure than a standard UK Turbo 2000. And some companies impose special conditions on new age car insurance ie L&V - 25 and over for a classic, 30 and over for a new age. A bit unfair that Stevo is almost accused of inciting panic - he is not the only one having the same problem - see Scoobynet and Scoobycity for similar stories in the last 2 weeks. Also, MANY people pay over £1000 for insurance and prefer to declare all their mods to stay fully legal. All the best Stevo. Brian
nee-naw Posted October 8, 2004 Posted October 8, 2004 £450 fully comp Anyone beat that for lowest quote!
karps Posted October 8, 2004 Posted October 8, 2004 got mine from first alternative after being quoted crazy prices elsewhere (cos iv got 3 points ) I found that you can phone these companies and get a quote one day, then phone again a few days later and get a totally different price. tesco quoted me 1400 one day then 2days later it was 840
tino Posted October 8, 2004 Posted October 8, 2004 You must be gutted mate, LV have really put you through the wringer. My own insurance is around the £1400 mark, however I'm modded to over 400bhp and all declared. (Greenlight Insurance) Out of curiosity how old are you, perhaps this is a factor in the high rates yu have been quoted?
allywrx Posted October 8, 2004 Posted October 8, 2004 I am 26 and got a quote via Direct Line on the net for my old 96 WRX wagon (with mods), £1200 fully comp with 6 points and 5 years ncd. For a UK car I got quoted £800. I now pay £480 for my 200sx. These bloody insurance companies go up n down like yo-yo's
allywrx Posted October 8, 2004 Posted October 8, 2004 Just used the Direct Line site for a quote on a 2003 wrx estate £691.95. wtf?
DEVLIN Posted October 8, 2004 Posted October 8, 2004 Steve , youve put me on a downer first thing on a Friday morn sorry to hear youre gonna be scoobless mate.
