Hepy Posted September 17, 2004 Posted September 17, 2004 I went to arm my alarm tonight but nothing happened when I pressed the button, so I had to enter my pin into the keypad to arm it. I assumed the battery in the keyfob was knackered. When I got home I gave it another go and it worked. I heard somewhere that telephone masts can interfere with it, is that true? If so can anything be done about it. It happened at the car park at work so I don't want to have to set my alarm off everytime I open the door then enter the code to stop it. Everybody looks at you like your some kind of twat it's a P1 btw. I think it's a sigma alarm
wrxmania Posted September 17, 2004 Posted September 17, 2004 People have had loads of problems on PRE blobeye cars near MacArthur Glen in Livingston as there is a police mast near it. Brian
dougster Posted September 17, 2004 Posted September 17, 2004 At a Glasgow meet a while back, no one could get their remotes to work due to a nearby telephone mast. I don't think there is any 'fix' to this problem
dave_morgan Posted September 17, 2004 Posted September 17, 2004 I get the same problem everytime I pick up a parcel at DHL in Gyle Edinburgh. It does work eventually, but I need to take the key out the ignition, lock the car, unlock the car then start it before the time out. I can never get it to disarm with the key in the ignition. It's also a P1 ! PITA !!!! Dave
DEVLIN Posted September 17, 2004 Posted September 17, 2004 My alarm wont operate in the car park at my work ( at milton st in Glasgow ) I have to push the car in to our underground showroom to shield it from the security cameras or whatever is affecting it. Nothing i seem to do cures this problem and it totally baffles the auto electricians i work with. Something we have to live with I think.
wookie Posted September 17, 2004 Posted September 17, 2004 There is a solution to the problem. The only alarms affecting Subarus are the Sigma ones. If you contact your local dealer they should be able to get you one free of charge. You will probably have to pay for them to install it but worth it in the long run. (It only happens around the new aerial masts, especially around police stations!)
DEVLIN Posted September 17, 2004 Posted September 17, 2004 Wookie , is it the alarm siren that needs replacing , coz i,ve ordered one Quite cheap , woz only £38.00 + vat for the part.
wookie Posted September 17, 2004 Posted September 17, 2004 No mate, it's the Alarm ECU that is needed. I think Sigma will only supply to the Dealer Network though and you will need to supply Vin details etc.
DEVLIN Posted September 17, 2004 Posted September 17, 2004 Cheers Wookie I,l have to set about getting one then again it may not be worth if it,s affecting others "TOAD" etc Cheers for the info guys.
wookie Posted September 17, 2004 Posted September 17, 2004 Sorry to hear that Dougster. I'd not heard of other alarms being affected. Might be worth talking to a Toad dealer to see if the ECU can be recoded or replaced. It is something to do with the frequency of the alarm and the masts, but I know of someone who has a problem in the local safeway! But there is a mast nearby!
