wrxmania Posted August 29, 2004 Posted August 29, 2004 Grant, Any chance of emailing me a copy of the the map/plan so I can go have a bit of fun on my own" as I could not make it?!?! Brian
spooks Posted August 29, 2004 Posted August 29, 2004 Funny Brian I was about to ask for the same thang, been bored all day seeing as I missed it If you could Grant I would appreciate a copy of the map too Spooks
wrxmania Posted August 30, 2004 Posted August 30, 2004 Had a few good "moments" (with Julie, luggage and the dog in the car I may add ) on the Lochearnhead roads - but mostly traffic - THE USUAL - 40MPH on the National Speed Limit roads and twisties with few chances of overtaking then OF COURSE 40 MPH in the 30MPH towns and villages!! AAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!! These are the moments I wish I was driving an unmarked traffic car!! However, flying past them screaming along makes up for it when you see them freak Brian
the squiggle Posted August 30, 2004 Author Posted August 30, 2004 I think we saw 3 cars all day and averaging treble figures at one point on the B7***, HHHMMM nice PM me your email details and i will send you the map file, i think you will like the roads Grant
west lothian scooby Posted August 30, 2004 Posted August 30, 2004 cheers for a great wee run out grant stevie
Subarstar Posted August 30, 2004 Posted August 30, 2004 Well done Grant & Imy. Maps were very easy to follow (so Audrey tells me) and the roads were excellent. A bit slow in places, but not a lot you can do about caravans and wannabe VW drivers, unless you bring along a bonnet mounted bazooka! (but I guess that would weigh too much) Anyway, Cheers Norry & Audrey.
zipster Posted August 30, 2004 Posted August 30, 2004 Hey folks, Dennis here, I was the one in the blue sport wagon, just joined sidc Had a really good day, thought it was very well organised and the roads were superb, great fun! that was my first meet and it sure a hell wont be last.. cant wait till the next one. only had one scetchy moment when ma brakes faded away to nothin! thankfully my co driver didn't have to use the map, cos we managed to keep up, apart from when accelerating away from the junctions... the maps were great... just that i didn't trust my co driver! lol Anyway Cheers to grant and the rest involved for a great day.
dave_morgan Posted August 30, 2004 Posted August 30, 2004 Sorry I didn't make it guys. Couldn't get online much last week or this weekend and tried calling a few folk on Saturday night to get meeting details but none of them were going either. Sounds like you had a good time though. Ill hopefully make the next one.... Cheers Dave
pedals Posted August 30, 2004 Posted August 30, 2004 excellent run on sunday, good roads and even some nice weather! was my first time along and was really nice to meet you all. cheers graeme ( the co-driver in wee b's silver wrx )
the squiggle Posted August 30, 2004 Author Posted August 30, 2004 Sounds like everybody enjoyed it then .............. We can try to organise 2 of them a year 1 at the beginning of the summer{April/May} and 1 at the end of the summer{August/Sept} and maybe 1 during the winter if there is enough interest Diffrerent areas of Scotland with a Stirling/Cumbernauld/Central starting/meeting point so that every one has an equal distance to the start Grant
derek_robertson Posted August 31, 2004 Posted August 31, 2004 Make sure you've got mudflaps fitted for the next jaunt,eh Matt By the way,did you know that the road from Crawfordjohn to Sanquhar is known as CRAWICK pronounced locally as "Goin UP Crack".We came DOWN it on Sunday Del
zipster Posted August 31, 2004 Posted August 31, 2004 Only 2 a year??? think we should have more than that... its to good not to!!! Dennis
johnnyr6 Posted August 31, 2004 Posted August 31, 2004 This was my second jaunt in the car and thought i was pushing it quite hard at some bits but i've just realised that i only got up to about 110, boy these cars are slow.. safer for your licence but slow.
wrxmania Posted August 31, 2004 Posted August 31, 2004 Mmmmm - are you saying they are slow?!?!? Brian
johnnyr6 Posted September 1, 2004 Posted September 1, 2004 Not at all..lol.. for years i've only did runs like the jaunt on bikes where the speeds are much higher ( on private roads ociffer) but i hadn't realised till now.
