<< Dr Nick - can you fix it for my car to no longer hesitate through the rev range when I accelerate at more than pensioner-like rates? >>

Over to Jon for that one m8 face-icon-small-wink.gif

I was fairly sure it was your MAF causing the stalling and hunting problem as mine was doing the exact same thing until I gave it a snort of carb cleaner. Have you tried an ECU reset m8?

cret i had the same problem with my car it was hesitating and i put a new coil lead pack on it i think it was about £300 from graham goode but it cured the problem

Does yours have like one coil thing on top of the engine with leads going down, or a separate coil pack right on top of each plug like mine?

I fancy fitting some bosch coil packs but funds are a touch thinly spread just at the moment so I'll try the cheap options first!

Did actually wave when I saw you last night in case I looked like an ignorant git! face-icon-small-shocked.gif

my engine has got the individual coils for each plug it might not be all the leads just 1 breaking down i dont know if they fit but you can try my old ones i think one is ok it was only on the car for a couple of months before i renewed the whole set

Cool - it'd be interesting to try it & see if I can spot an improvement after swapping it for any of my ones.

Do you know which your good one is though?

So the new ones you got were £300 for the full set then? Presume they're proper subaru ones?

Wouldn't mind trying that if that's alright mate, then if it cures the problem I'll be happy to buy the coil off you if you want.

Dr Nick - haven't reset the ECU yet as I can't find the black connectors to get all four plugs connected at once on mine. I can only find the green ones (right on top of the steering column) which when connected & engine actually running (not just ignition on) shows code 5 - abnormal MAF signal. I suspect this is the stored code from the MAF being dirty recently but I can't find the black read connectors to check for current faults!!

That said I'm sure I saw some white ones down near the pedals somewhere so I'm wondering if I have a freak car with non standard colour plugs?!

Top man, cheers!

If you text me your number to 463787 I'll give you a buzz next time I'm on my way south to see if it suits you to pick it up.
