Cret Posted May 30, 2004 Posted May 30, 2004 An unmentionably huge thankyou is hereby offered to Jon, Dave, Neil & Andi for the huge dollops of work they've done today in getting my engine out and the new one in. Wouldn't have happened for a long time yet if it wasn't for these most helpful subadudes so I take my hat off to them (and hide it from Neil...) for their time & effort, it's VERY much appreciated. Engine is not quite ready to run yet but all being well it will breathe life again tomorrow afternoon some point. Thanks chaps - you're diamond dudes.
andy_bray Posted May 30, 2004 Posted May 30, 2004 It is nice that we could help you mate,,any-time... And it was great to meet the dudes...
Cret Posted May 30, 2004 Author Posted May 30, 2004 Thanks again today for the help chaps. I really appreciate the amount of time all of you have generously given up from your weekends to help me out. SHE'S ALIVE! After a horrifying spectre of having to remove the engine again after seeing it in, finished, & running (noisily!) because of an inexplicable clutch problem, my brother has saved the day and saved us from removing the engine unnecessarily again tomorrow. All that remains really now is to get the exhaust on it, clean it, and drive it around hoping the check engine light will go away! You're a bunch of diamond geezers - cheers chaps.
CustomScoobyIOM Posted June 1, 2004 Posted June 1, 2004 And she is running, replaced idle control valve and sweet as a nut!! Lovely to hear her again!! Now sump needs changing and she is sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet dude! Glad to of helped mate
Cret Posted June 1, 2004 Author Posted June 1, 2004 Would have still been out of action for ages if I hadn't had the help from you chaps. It was soooooooo nice this morning driving it into douglas & hearing it growling (mrs described it as a throbbing beast). Thanks.
Cret Posted June 1, 2004 Author Posted June 1, 2004 << Sure she was on about the er.... car.... >> Heh heh!! Well I thought she was..... Peanuts? Anytime sucka! And you'll be pleased to know Neil that the engine is running on Raspberry Mr Freeze coolant too!
Boxer23 Posted June 1, 2004 Posted June 1, 2004 I just stuck in 250ml of blueberry Mr Freeze into the coolant to add some spice! Off to Agrimark to load up on Daddies with a bit on Heinz Salad Cream until I get the chip soldered in.
Cret Posted June 1, 2004 Author Posted June 1, 2004 I hope that chip is a genuine McCain and not some poorly researched Safeway Saver job? I've heard that if you fit a crinkle cut chip you get better gains in the mid to high power range but at the loss of a little lower down the curve....
Boxer23 Posted June 1, 2004 Posted June 1, 2004 Actually some supermarket brands of curly fries offer better power gains so might try some Waitrose a little later..
Cret Posted June 1, 2004 Author Posted June 1, 2004 Waitrose?! Have you completely lost it mate? What the blazes are you thinking man? At the very least you need a Marksies item (although you might have backup issues with things how they are at the moment), or preferably a tried & tested Harry Ramsden.
CustomScoobyIOM Posted June 1, 2004 Posted June 1, 2004 ROFL @ You two! New sump on its way to you Jim
Boxer23 Posted June 1, 2004 Posted June 1, 2004 Jon, can you source for me a 1kg bag of Harry Ramsden's oven chips and see if anyone is doing any offers on chicken Oxo cubes?
