NBR 24 Hour

There is a live stream but they concentrate on the top SP9 class.

Currently 64th overall and have already had a stop for a driver change.

The WRX STI has just had a little tap on the front wing while being lapped by one of the Audi R8's. Fingers crossed no damage ?

Another pit stop and another driver swap but still making progress, now up to 57th overall (still 1st in class)

Tim is still in control, lap times have dropped due to a couple of yellow flag slow zones.

And the position keeps tumbling, the Subaru has now broken the top 50. Lots of crashes so no-one is running at full pace due to all the slow safety zones.

So 6 hours have gone and the drivers have all had a stint so Takuto is back in the drivers seat.

Briefly getting up as high as 41 overall (out of 154) during some pit stops the WRX STI looks settled at 43 overall but has lead the SP3T class from the beginning.

Think I am going to take a break and tune back in later.

Wow a lot has happened overnight, not only has the Subaru knocked over 7 seconds of its fastest lap time but it is now up to 31 overall ?

So the 100 lap mark has been broken and now in the top 30.

3/4 done and the WRX STI has a 3 lap advantage on its nearest class competitor. Can they make the top 25? Six hours to go!!!

Update Hour 19

It looks like the only way the Subaru will finish higher than 29th overall will be due to faster cars not finishing. Although it is mixing it up with Porsche GT Cup cars it is a lap behind an Audi R8 in 28th. Not sure the 2.0 ltr turbo has the grunt to haul that in.

Update Hour 20

Tim has taken over the drive at pit stop 14 and has hit the low 9 minute lap times straight away and is pulling away from one of the SP10 class Audi R8's

The graphic hasn't updated yet but the WRX STI is now in the top 25 due to a Lamborghini Hurrican chewing up a rear tyre that then shredded the bodywork. Hideki back at the wheel for the next 8 laps.

2 to go and still a net 25th overall.

Only 1 more pit stop to go and less than an hour left on the clock. The STI team have had very little to do such has been the reliably of the WRX STI.

Update Final Pit Stop

So the final pit stop has taken place, Van Dam is in the seat until the end and the STI is now 21st overall...bonkers. ?

Result

Wow!!! what a race, finishing 1st in class again making it 2 wins in a row and 6 wins in total, managing to finish 19th overall from a field of 154 cars many of which are far more powerful on paper. The field contained Lamborghini's, Ferrari's and a large range of GT cars from BMW, Mercedes and Audi. The WRX STI NBR ran faultlessly and managed to complete 145 laps over the 24 hours, 33 laps more than last year. Well done to the whole STI team, hopefully the great reliability and knowledge learned will make its way into future STI's.
