mctwistuk Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 Well after building up my supply of polishes and waxed etc I thought it was about time I took the plunge and bought myself a machine polisher. I have tried g3 applicator pads to do it the old fashioned way but when you see how shiny cars look after they have been machine polished I thought it was time to take the plunge. I haven't blown the bank on the machine I have bought but hopefully it will do the trick. I will post up photos once I have given the scoob a good going over. If any of the seasoned detailers have any tips then please let me know. Chris
davey l wrx Posted September 21, 2014 Posted September 21, 2014 Check out the Polished Bliss web site. They have guides and vids on there. It's where I got my polisher from and all the kit, they couldn't be more helpful if you have questions. Overall start it slow to get it applied and then speed up the machine for the actual polishing. Take your time and remember Suabru's have a thin paint/lacquer coating so don't go nuts with a coarse compound and pad. I usually use the finest pads and compound I have and end up with no swirl marks and a glass finish
mctwistuk Posted September 23, 2014 Author Posted September 23, 2014 Gave the car a second coat of wax last night. Think I am getting the hang of it now. Need to just find a good wax and start using that. I have been using simoniz ice wax which is pretty good.
davey l wrx Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 I don't use wax. These days i use a Workstat Acrylic 3 part system. Sprays on and wipes off easy and gives great protection. Before that i used Dodo Juice Blue Velvet that was good wax
