Remember, only a fool breaks the 2 second rule.” Road Safety Scotland website ‘Get in Lane’ contains information and a driving game related to the ‘2 Second Rule’:- § Watch the vehicle in front of you pass a landmark such as a sign or tree at the side of the road.§ As the vehicle in front passes the landmark, start counting.§ If you pass the landmark within 2 seconds, you are following too closely.§ If you are towing a trailer or the road surface is wet or slippery, increase your distance by counting to 4 seconds.
