Weekly 'safety' Camera Updates

Recommended Posts

Here's this weeks Camera locations and some information on the proposed Average Speed Camera scheme for the A9 (not that average speed cameras will fix the problems on that road).

So here's the info for the Northern area

A9 - Average Speed Cameras (including deployment w/c 12 August 2013)

Northern Safety Camera Partnership attended the ‘Black Isle Show’ again this year to show the mobile camera unit and to discuss community concerns regarding speeding.

Dougie Bennion, Partnership Manager said:-

“The show provides us with a good community engagement opportunity. As usual, there was a high level of interest in the camera technology that is housed inside the mobile unit. A hot topic this year was the installation of average speed cameras at the A9. This was raised by a lot of people who visited our pitch.

As part of the A9 dualling project an average speed camera system will be installed along the route. The SPECS system is an automatic digital camera system measuring the average speed of vehicles. It calculates a vehicle’s average speed between various points over a route. The system has a unique signing strategy informing drivers that they are entering an average speed control zone. Average speed cameras are already in operation on the A77 in Ayrshire.”
