mctwistuk Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 Can anyone tell me what spec of hoses are required for an oil catch can and roughly how much hosing is required? It is not a return to sump one. Thanks Chris
bombsquad Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 I've always just used silicone. Qty depends on where you locate it.
bombsquad Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 (edited) You can buy oil line rubber from fleabay. No oil passes through it, just contaminated fumes. Tanks I've used in the past have always had a clear tube on the side so you know when they need emptied. Edit: just looked and so does yours. Maybe I don't understand your type of installation though. Remember, I'm new to Scoobs Chris Edited July 7, 2013 by bombsquad
mctwistuk Posted July 7, 2013 Author Posted July 7, 2013 I have looked at silicon hose and did a wee google search and people use oil/fuel line hose also. Just not too sure what to get. Silicon hose is quite expensive. Any advice I can get is always welcomed. Cheers Chris
bombsquad Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 Yeh it is. Unless you already have it all over the engine bay you'd be cheaper using standard oil breather hose.
mctwistuk Posted July 7, 2013 Author Posted July 7, 2013 Struggling to find any correct size. Ports are 15mm id and 18mm od apparently as this is what hoses sizes are on a new age
bombsquad Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 If struggling, get slight oversize and jube clip them down. Will be fine.
scoobywho Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 Behind the td04 to keep the oil warm, will swap his vf out into the hawkeye andd vice versa as he doesnt need a big turbo lol
lewisscoob Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 Lol I've seen it done a few ways, mostly done with what looked like clear garden hose.
fai17 Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 I don't know why you bother Chris. You drive fast enough to need a catch can.
g1983 Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 Online it states, generally, 15mm ports for a turbo car. Use 13mm ID silicone hoses to provide a tight fit. Silicone hoses, in a variety of colours are buttons on ebay, did you jet jubes with it. The only issue I see with clear hoses is they will look crap, all manky. Hope that helps mate
mctwistuk Posted July 9, 2013 Author Posted July 9, 2013 With the car going on track occasionally now I prefer to be safe than sorry. I have researched this quite a bit and majority of research points to it being a good idea.
