paul555sti Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 fifth inj in mine spurts extra in. gives it extra punch . the only reason i know this is had a leak on the feed pipe and disconected it for a while and definatly down on power untill i got fixed I thought your car was still on a standard map? Were you not looking for a new ecu lately?
DR Motosport Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 would like to get to around the 350 mark . last run at wallace was 300 as it is now but was running lean and since put in the walbro. i know a re mapp would do it the world of good but cant justify 400 odd quid at the mo, even more so now im in the middle of fixing the gearbox. if it is a 16 then is the 20 better? I think if you stick to the 16g TD05 you already have, look at bigger injectors, either 440 yellows from the sti for about £50+ or 550's for a fair bit more, an ESL remap, frp, all as Lewis says, but its the MAP sensor that's your limiting factor not the MAF. You need a later one from a 97-00 model to lift the 1.1 bar limit. With all that you wont be far away from your 350bhp target

The wastegate penny wasn't spot welded to the wastegate shaft properly, it all looked fine when fitted, but as soon as Andy Forrest put some boost through it when mapping it, it moved about on the shaft and wouldn't hold anymore that 0.5 bar. So it all had to be stripped down again. Closed as normal Then move it about with your fingers along the shaft and open it That was 3 years ago, but now and only 8000 miles later the exhaust housing has cracked, so its off with it again when I get a few hours to spare. Planning on getting in touch with them, but going by their customer service with the wastegate and a never ending list of excuse from supplier problems to material problems, when in reality they sent out a turbo with zero quality control checks, I wont hold my breath. I also spoke to Owen Developments who can supply an inconel housing that will fit this turbo, so I'll look at all options. Fingers crossed.

Were you not looking for a new ecu lately? i open up my ecu and see it has been tweeked inside. there is a diod been cut and there seems to be aadditional chip in the corner. wallace told me they could not chip it, but looking into it more think its a case that THEY cant chip it. so not surew. might go down the injector route next but i will need a decent ecu to map with first. but am happy as it is untill i can get the 500 odd quid saved to get a decent ecu and re map. and might take you up on that phil. would it be a bolt straight on item or fitted when re mapped as mine ir currently 0.8 bar Edited March 28, 2013 by scottishtaffy
scottishtaffy Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 will keep you in mind now as know its needing the boost up a bit. was also told it runs lean high up so think injectors would be next safe bet before remap. just wondering if i can bolt on yor 2 bar map sensor to see what would happen....... as long as there is no melt down or bang i would be happy lol

I have a set of the phase 2 440's mentioned above. Yours for £50 delivered or £40 picked up. Because yours is an earlier car, you'll need injector adapters to allow the phase 2 injectors to fit your manifold. They're usually a plug in 32 pin chip in the bottom right of the board, over on the left is a resistor (think its J1) and that will have been cut as you say. Your 0.8bar is that from a gauge or the rolling road? as it should be higher. I wouldn't expect the map to run lean, and with the lower boost you may have a small leak somewhere. The MAP sensor isn't a straight swap over I'm afraid, and they need rewired, and just to add to it the wiring colours are completely different. When you get a sensor, also get the plug into it with a few inches of wire so you can make up the new joints for the loom.

So does cr turbos. Best of luck on your next choice
