Gearbox Loan

Recommended Posts

Hi guy's i was just wondering if anyone had a 5 speed box that i could borrow for my bugeye so i could remove mine and get it fixed ..

I know i know ,like most folk don't have one or 2 just lying around

Could be taken in the same context as say the fine chap who addresses you on a Glasgow street " Here pal any spare change/fags "

So if you could check your pockets or anywhere for a "Spare" gearbox and let me know if this is too long a shot :o Or perhaps any other avenue i could go down ..

Any help advice will be greatly recieved :):)

Thanks ,Kenny

Reason i am asking is that it is my daily driver and i need it for work ..

sounds like a good bit of extra work for yourself.

Have you made enquiries into getting your current box repaired? As any new parts from dealers wont be cheap. May be better buying reconditioned box to replace yours. Although having said that ive fitted freshly rebuilt box from specialist and still had to remove immediately again.

whats current gearbox code?

api do refurbed boxes for 750+vat when i enquired a few years ago and would supply exchange with returnable deposit if you dont want car off the road.

best bet is probably gearbox in link above.

reading your other thread if you think its centre diff then i have complete ty752 viscous tail end with 1 to 1.1 drop gears which would fit. its from an old box of mine but no centre diff problems and would be cheap. having said that noises can travel along shafts etc so may not be centre thats away reading from other thread.

Sent an Email to that chap scott :icon_salut:

Euan ,the noise is constant in every gear mate ??

If its increasing with road speed and not gear related it could be many things; any of the bearings, front or centre diff, drop gears. cant tell really. Its just you thought noise was comming from back of box, i have spare entire rear casing from older version that would fit but its not low milage.

a replacement box would be best vfm if its truthfully described.

Euan ,the noise is there any gear and iit does increase with the revs then tails off at around 60mph ...

I had it on a ramp with someone listening while i drove/flew it and it was coming from rear of the box mate ..
