And the Highlands/Grampian details from the Norther Safety Camera Partnership

: 26th October 2012

Use:

Northern Safety Camera Partnership deployment w/c 29 October 2012 (including winter driving tips)

Northern Safety Camera Partnership Manager, Dougie Bennion, said: : “Now that the clocks are going back and we will have less daylight hours as winter approaches, it’s important that drivers adjust their driving accordingly.

“It’s also important to check that your vehicle is well maintained and serviced.

Drivers should:

• make sure wipers and lights are in good working order

• check that tyres have plenty of tread and are at the correct pressure

• keep lights, windows and mirrors clean

• add anti-freeze to the radiator and winter additive to your windscreen washer bottle

During your journey:

• reduce speed in bad weather

• increase stopping distances

• avoid sudden acceleration and braking

• use dipped headlights in poor conditions

• take breaks every two or three hours

• do not pass closed snow gates.”

For further information about driving in bad weather see: http://www.transportscotland.gov.uk/files/documents/Driving_Leaflet_A4_8pp.pdf

All our camera sites have a proven history of collisions and evidence of speeding vehicles. We may from time to time use mobile cameras at other sites where both vehicle and road users are at greater risk, such as road works.

During the week commencing Monday, 29 October 2012, mobile safety cameras will be deployed at the following locations:

Mobile cameras will also be operating between camera sites on the A9, the A82 and the A96.
