za - sti Posted April 20, 2012 Posted April 20, 2012 Hi , look for advice - 06 Sti all of a sudden has developed a hesitation/surge and seems to be down on power. Best was I can describe it if you hold it at 3000 rev in 3rd you can hear and feel the engine advancing and retarding last time i have it out it was going very well - any ideas - cheers za
brianm Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 My car had this when I purchased it. Put your car on a rolling road and get it checked out. Has your car been mapped? Have you changed the exhaust or removed the cat? My car was boosting up to 21psi, than backing off under 14 then back up and down. Some time on the rolling road later and it pulls so much smoother.
za - sti Posted April 30, 2012 Author Posted April 30, 2012 cheers guys havent changed anything on the car - its not a boost thing. when idling and you hold (try to) at any rev band the revs pulse up and down by about 500rpm but not irregular going to get it onto a select monitor to see if there are any codes showing and take it from there cheers alex
za - sti Posted May 27, 2012 Author Posted May 27, 2012 turned out to be the fuel pressure sensor replaced and back to normal! cheers for all the feedback za
patsy Posted May 27, 2012 Posted May 27, 2012 turned out to be the fuel pressure sensor replaced and back to normal! cheers for all the feedback za I had very similar issues with my car. Never had any cel light or errors. Also never really got to the bottom of it. Now that I'm running mafless, issues seem to have gone. Where abouts is the fuel pressure sensor? How much did it cost to fix? Did you have a cel or error code to point you in that sensors direction? Ryan
za - sti Posted May 30, 2012 Author Posted May 30, 2012 hi ryan not exactly sure where it is - it may be next to the fuel filter under the back seat (on a hawkeye) - the work was done under warranty but it cost about £300 including labour etc nothing showing up to dash but there was an error code coming up on the select monitor - initially they thought it was the idle control value
patsy Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 Cool. Thanks for the reply. Sounds worth a poke about for me. I tried swapping idle control valves etc. didn't change anything. Cheers. Ryan
