wrx kenny Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 Seeing as I'll have my car back I will take a run up , anyone else . Boab I think use both your feet , left foot to let the clutch out and right foot to accelerate that should see you right m8 . Kenny
boab type ra Posted January 31, 2012 Author Posted January 31, 2012 (edited) fancy a wee convoy up? ment 2 say the tips am looking for tyre pressures, diff setting and would fuel aditives help Edited January 31, 2012 by boab type ra
colin_ross Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 Any tips? Depends. Do you want a good time or to drive your car home? Getting one can lessen the chance of the other. THE top tip is take an RAC card with you.
wrx kenny Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 fancy a wee convoy up? Yep I'm up for that , if your passing through airdrie I'll pick u up there if not let me know where Kenny
johnnyr6 Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 I usually get the revs up to about 5 to 6k then off the clutch very quickly. On my car it seemed to give good grip without bogging down. I have never broken anything launching this way but it's not the most sympathetic way.. As for the diff, try with it (iirc) diff locked for launch then opened once into 2nd. I think this is how colin used his on the type r and he had pretty good launches with reduced wheelspin. Check out.. Johnny.
boab type ra Posted January 31, 2012 Author Posted January 31, 2012 no need for rac card my uncle is taking his recker up with his mk2 rs2000 so if its wrong it can catch a lift of the and i mite get to drive a mk2 home thanks for the info johnny kenny i will let u know when i know ma brothers not home till 2moro hes driving up
doug970 Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 Watch the speed van on the way over there, got me last year in a Forester overtaking my mates Silver Impreza! I did the crime and took the 3 points - first points ever!! Not bad at my age!!

neill54 Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 Is the haggis thing any good never been! And it's a lot closer than crail just dying to get out on the bike only passed last year!! Neil
johnnyr6 Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 (edited) I went last year for the 1st time and i quite liked it. I thought it was quite big for a bike autojumble and spending a few hours rummaging through bike bits and checking out the old bikes for sale is right up my street..lol Can't remember how much it is, think it's about £7 so cheap enough. Colin and myself have been talking about getting the bikes out for a run when the weather picks up. If your interested i'll give you a shout when. Johnny. Edited February 3, 2012 by johnnyr6

braveheart Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 Braveheart& Neil54 against a Skyline GTR 35 in Low boost... http://youtu.be/D94aor-hTbk. Some Points.. 1.Tyres about 23 PSI all round (may not drive the car home) make sure tyres are warm. 2.Do not have a full tank. Take fuel up with you and keep it minimum I might practice what I preach one day. 3.No passengers for your best time, empty all your boot spare wheel ect it all counts. 4.Hold you revs to about 5000-6000 revs and release the clutch remember this is doing more damage to your car than a track day at any 1/4 mile the stress the car goes under is mega. The last 3 events at crail I have broken something so beware.. 5.Enjoy it and A few tips please add there is many more jut a few i recommend watch the lights not the opponent lol
neill54 Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 Ha ha Chris get rid of the passenger I must have held you back on that run me being a chunky one!! Neil
braveheart Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 Ha ha Chris get rid of the passenger I must have held you back on that run me being a chunky one!! Neil LOL not at all Neil meant for the best run time ...
johnnyr6 Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 We got a wee Highland Biker subgroup in the pipe line.... Johnnyr6 whats the gen on this Haggis Autojumble...?? As neil said it was mid febuary in lanark. It was pretty good (although rummaging through old bike bits is right up my street). I was tempted to buy another bike there (well most of a bike) but my wife would have killed me. A wee ride out in the summer would be good. Johnny
