sci87 Posted September 5, 2011 Posted September 5, 2011 Hi folks , looking to do some track days with my classic impreza wrx sti "1996" just had 4-pot brakes fitted to the front . I have been looking at strut braces / anti-roll bars but not sure what im better getting done first . if anybody could help point me in the right direction i would be very greatfull . thanks
sti pretender Posted September 5, 2011 Posted September 5, 2011 Really depends on your budget. Strut braces are where I started made the car a bit more rigid. Antilift kit was next which helped with the understeer and a good geometry setup. I've since changed to fast road/track BC Coilovers and had the new trackrod ends fitted. Swapped the top mounts to allow more caster. Gone for more of a track setting on the car as that is all it is used for now. Car is amazing through the corners, when I started trackdays the Elise's use to leave me in the corners now I'm right behind them.
euan_r Posted September 10, 2011 Posted September 10, 2011 i would be thinking of oil and fuel control measures first and foremost.
TrackScotland Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 if your are running decent tyres (R rated things like 048s, 888's etc) id consider a baffled sump at least if you plan on doing a few trackdays. An oil cooler (thermostatic) would also be good if you want to do more than a couple of hotlaps at a time (to keep oil temps < 100deg) As above - as much castor as you can, decent susp, brakes and tyres WAY BEFORE power
jef Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 whitleine anti roll bars, brakes, and geometry set up. obv assuming all is well with engine. the baffled sump, or cosworth baffle plate probably quite important if your really going to hammering it. once i had my arb,s solid droplinks and geomeery done the car, handled and cornered with much more stability. as long as springs/shocks are not worn. then coilovers, oil cooler, the list goes on and on tbh
sci87 Posted September 13, 2011 Author Posted September 13, 2011 thanks for the feed back guys . just got 4-pots fitted to the car from 2-pots (front) and new discs & pads on the rear . tyre's that are on the car are yokahama parada which i have been told by a few folk are good.
TrackScotland Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 ok for road but will melt (lose their edges) on track if its dry and your pushing on. If you can take any weight out - do it..... that will help a great deal
TrackScotland Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 see some comments on paradas here - http://trackscotland.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?t=3233 :S
sci87 Posted September 16, 2011 Author Posted September 16, 2011 cheers for that , think ill give the parada a miss .
