riiidaa Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 Hi there, I'm hankering after a specific WRX, but it's nearly 600 miles away in Aberdeen, I was wondering if there were any trusted Subaru Specialists in Aberdeen who might be able to check it out for me if I arrange it with the seller, or else maybe a well respected SIDC member who can go over it with a fine tooth comb. (In exchange for a drink etc) Just a thought.
lewisscoob Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 I would offer to cast a nosey eye over it but I'm not going to have a spare minute to look at it for probably a week. Drop me a PM if you want?
davey l wrx Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 I'm in Aberdeen (well west hill) most weekends if i can fit it in i'll have a look for you! Got any details on the car
riiidaa Posted August 24, 2011 Author Posted August 24, 2011 Ah thanks chaps! Well, so far you two have been faster to respond than the seller has. So rather than waste your time - let us first see if he will respond to my initial enquiry, with the rudimentary questions answered. If so I will ask for the location details etc and we can go from there. It's a blue saloon WRX with a bug-to-blob conversion, the key factor for me is that it has a SportShift 4EAT auto gearbox.
lewisscoob Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 I think i discussed this car on a local forum recently, has it had an STI bottom end fitted?
riiidaa Posted August 25, 2011 Author Posted August 25, 2011 The seller gave me a response today, he has only owned it one month (Alarm bells)
riiidaa Posted August 25, 2011 Author Posted August 25, 2011 I think i discussed this car on a local forum recently, has it had an STI bottom end fitted? If you could PM me more on that - if it's the car i sent you a link too last night. Thanks

riiidaa Posted September 8, 2011 Author Posted September 8, 2011 Hi guys Just to say thanks for offers of help so far, the update is that the auction went to a higher bidder but it seems they have not been in touch since, so today the seller emailed me asking if i was still interested; THIS was my reply: Hi, I'm interested, but require further details and photos, please send me photos of: The engine bay The engine number The chassis number The dent on the bonnet Any other dents or imperfections around the car (bodywork / mechanical and electrical). A photo of the log book including the engine / chassis numbers Please send the photos to r********@hotmail.com I ask this because I'd like to get an idea of what I will need to spend after purchasing the car, I do really want this specific car so please give a true account of any problems there might be with it so that I can look into what I have to do to put them right. Also would you object to me sending the AA or RAC to you to do an inspection ? Please also confirm how many former keepers there have been, this is stated on the log book We'll see how much of that he comes through with and then I'll ask for a visit / address.
davey l wrx Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 Hmmmm they could have been and seen it and said no.... be interesting to see what they come back with. I'm in West Hill every weekend now so if you need an independant pair of eyes to look it over let me know.
thefastone Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 Possible that, I can see where the alarm bells are ringing, but that could have been innocent I guess... Either way, I would also offer to have a look, but I think that I'm not going to be around for more than a few days before heading back offshore... Do you actually have a link to the auction so I can take a look? Dale.
riiidaa Posted September 16, 2011 Author Posted September 16, 2011 No response from seller, I guess I'll wait for a lotto win and import a tipronic from NZ
