tatty Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 Just about to fit an aftermarket boost control valve(manual) It's the one with the adjuster on the top and 2 connectors on it Now do i leave the standard one on the wing still connected and fit the new one next to the actuator? Has anybody got a good pic or a fitting photo/instructions for it? Needing more power!!
tatty Posted July 29, 2011 Author Posted July 29, 2011 Got it done, now running 1bar or just under, what is a safe boost to run?
scooby doom Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 May help if you post details of your car/age/model and the turbo fitted etc. I'm far from an expert but the TD04 on my old car was running up to 1.2bar, I think on low boost with a remap and a bit more on high. I believe the VF35 on my current car is similar and is somewhere about 1.6bar at full whack. I'm sure once folk know what you're running someone on the know will pipe up with the info.
tatty Posted July 30, 2011 Author Posted July 30, 2011 I had dawes device before the likes of ecutek was out .Fitted to a my00 uk turbo i had from new and was set just below fuel cut think it is 1.2bar can't remember what year i had the dawes device fitted. But you need to check the Afr and check with det can's then there's the age of the fuel pump aswell is it still producing the same fuel pressure. mine is a uk turbo 2000 "X" and standard, 78000miles has a cat back exhaust right enough going to tickle the boost up to just around 1.2 and see what happens, slightly colder today so a good time to set it
tatty Posted July 30, 2011 Author Posted July 30, 2011 uk turbo 2000, standard car apart from a cat back exhaust Just about to fit an aftermarket boost control valve(manual) what's a safe but good boost setting for this, set at just under 1bar just now but from memory i@m sure they can take more before fuel cut
johnnyr6 Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 You will prob get fuel cut at 1.2 bar. The ecu reads this as overboost and cuts the fuel. I think 1.1bar is where to set it unless you get a fuel cut defender. Also if you havn't already fit a knocklink to detect detonation. Johnny.

Hmmm don't drive hard very often so is a knocklink essential? Never had one in any of my other scoobs
johnnyr6 Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 If your gonna up the boost without a remap i'd say yes. I used to get det on wot in 5th until i fitted a walboro fuel pump to stop the car running lean at the top end. With my car running 1.2 bar with an hks fcd and fueling sorted it was totally reliable for over 5 years. Johnny
