jebus82 Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 have taken the prodrive back box and de-cat (i think) centre section off the gb270, they are in good condition and im gona punt them, wondering if anyone could answer the following queries: 1) price? was thinking £130-£150 (for both) plus P+P? 2) price for P+P and who to go with and how to send? still have box for new exhaust was gona use this? cheers for any replies jebus
sandycam Posted July 25, 2011 Posted July 25, 2011 I'd give you £50 plus p&p for the decat if it's still for sale?
lewisscoob Posted July 25, 2011 Posted July 25, 2011 The back box alone is probably wirth over £100 and the £50 plus P+P above is a good offer.
sandycam Posted July 25, 2011 Posted July 25, 2011 Hi jebus 82, Any chance you can let me know if your going to sell this or not? Notice you've been on the site but no replies and now I touch goats also? cheers.

Seems juvenille yet always amusing. Dont know how it started
simon.r Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 Ive just paid £80 for a prodrive back box - Your CAT you thought about taking it to a scrap man ? Quite valuable as scrap mind.

Seems juvenille yet always amusing. Dont know how it started Lol - when the forums were getting redesigned years ago, everyone was a bit fed up with the usual thread which only contained a message with those four letters - Y H P M - even though the forum alerted you to that. Hence the new catchphrase

Seems juvenille yet always amusing. Dont know how it started Cheers, just cleared a few out. I always wondered what the goat craic was! I assumed it was a joke type thing or I wasn't part of some secret society and I hadn't even realised I'd joined it myself:) Regards the "cat" being worth money possibly for scrap, it's not a cat but a decat, so basically a stainless pipe and a small stainless box as a resonator, worth next to nothing to a scrappy!
jebus82 Posted July 27, 2011 Author Posted July 27, 2011 sorry!! i had stopped checking this lol. yeah ive still got both, the de-cat centre section aint stainless like the back box. if your still interested i will post up some pics of what you want. sorry for no payin attention!! cheers jebus
sandycam Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 (edited) Yep, still interested, stick a pic up just to confirm and then hopefully we can sort something, cheers scott. ps just thought, are you sure it's the decat and not the resonated centre section you're on about? Decat looks like this on the right. Edited July 27, 2011 by sandycam
jebus82 Posted July 27, 2011 Author Posted July 27, 2011 hmmm its not that thing in the pic, its the centre section? i pressumed this origionally had a cat in it as it looks as though prodrive have welded a new bit in the middle? i may need to update my limited knowledge on the exhaust!! sorry cheers jebus
sandycam Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 is this the bit you have? cheers sc. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Subaru-Impreza-STI-Standard-Exhaust-06-07-/160627961077?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item25662c2cf5
jebus82 Posted July 27, 2011 Author Posted July 27, 2011 probs but mine is a lot straighter, obviously they made it straight it when they removed the cat
sandycam Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 There's no cat in that pipe, the flat "water bottle" type shape is purely a resonator and only quietens things down but pretty sure prodrive dont do anything with it so must be a non standard part you have?
lewisscoob Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 Newage turbo back exhaust I believe is: downpipe - cat pipe - centre pipe - back box Im pretty sure the photo in post #12 has a back box on the left and a "cat pipe" on the right. The ebay ad has a back box and "centre pipe". As to which of these pipes prodrive tinkered with - no idea. I would suggest that what jebus82 has is a decat centre pipe.
scooby222 Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 from memory factory catted centre section is one piece, prodrive centre section and de cat is 2 pieces aftermarket decat is also one piece - but that is from hazy memory and is probably wrong as usual
scouk Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 (edited) Newage turbo back exhaust I believe is: downpipe - cat pipe - centre pipe - back box Im pretty sure the photo in post #12 has a back box on the left and a "cat pipe" on the right. The ebay ad has a back box and "centre pipe". That sounds spot on.. FOr info, on hawkeye's and possibly later blobs (not sure on that one) the individual lengths of the down-pipe and cat pipe parts are different, and are not indepandandly swappable with earlier models but together they measure the same.. Also some aftermarket downpipes tend to replace both the down-pipe and cat-pipe with a single pipe.. The pic above shows the cat pipe.. The eBay link is the cat-back system, backbox& centerpipe with silencer on the center section. Although not entirely convinced the pic above is showing a 'standard' prodrive one.. Looks modified.. I've not seen a PPP pipe with that extra box on it. Ones I've seen (and one I have fitted to my car) are just straight through Prodrive Link.. Only time I've seen silencers/boxes that sort of dumpy shape in on a pipe is on a custom made exhaust. Could be wrong through.. So could have been modified aith a silencer or baby cat at owners request Note: the PPP only changed the backbox and cat pipe.. THe center section with the silencer (the bit in-between the backbox and cat-pipe) remained the same. Simple question for jebus is, what did you put on the car to replace the pipes you have taken off? I suspect it's the backbox and center pipe as shown on the eBay listing. Center pipe measures about the same or slightly longer length as the backbox, cat or de-cat pipe is much sorter, sounds strange that it's a straight throguh pipe and made of regular steel... sandycam Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 (edited) The decat pipe on my first post with a pic is a prodrive decat for a hawkeye only, with ppp which, is maybe why you haven't seen it? I've had 2 in the past and they've both been like this. All previous models didn't have the resonator box in it and are as you suggest, just a straight through pipe. Heres the best daigram I've seen to show everything. Edited July 28, 2011 by sandycam

It's possible that was a change in the hawkeye configuration that I wasn't aware of.. MAde the center pipe straigh through aand stuck the silencer/resonator on the end of the cat-pipe.. Interesting.. thanks

Interesting.. thanks Nearly, the centre pipe wasn't touched in any ppp newage as far as I'm aware but I meant that the decat was just a straight through pipe with no resonator on everything bar the hawkeye!

Ahh sorry mis-read a previous post which i thought read the hawk didn't have resonator in the center section God knows How I picked that up.. So... on a PPP for hawkeye they removed the cat (from the cat pipe) and stuck a baby resonator in there, so a hawkeye PPP exhaust has 2 resonators? Standard one on the center section and the new one on the de-cat pipe?
spect Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 My Hawk exhaust had just three sections, back box, resonated centre section and the downpipe with cat. Now I have a back box, a straight through centre section as shown above and a decat down pipe. My centre section is Stainless but not polished so looks a bit like the one in your photo now. I have no idea what that down pipe looking thing with a baked bean can on is supposed to be lol.
