Nope, none. Just a long(ish) socket extender, a socket and a ratchet. Simple stuff :)

Try removing and cleaning the knock sensor mate. Seems to have been a few lately on here with similar non-start issues and they've been down to that. Worth a shot maybe?

Hiya sorry to butt in but I see you posted you did the ^^^^^ green/black connectors .... just checking you only joined the black ones?

was worth a guess....either that then immobiliser??

Thought you joined the black to black and green to green or was that to reset the ecu I'll need to read the scoobypedia article again if I'm wrong oops!!

And where is the knock sensor please ?

Yup cathy I am that dumbass it's just the black ones I'll do it in the morning and see what happens

Taxi!!!

Neil

Just that i've done it several times and you join the black ones then switch the ignition on to see if any codes show up on the dash :)

hope you get it sorted soon

Here is a pic of sensor locations (hope it uploaded :))

Knock sensor is buried down deep in front of the intercooler if memory serves correctly & is a biatch to get back on clean again. I'd suggest giving the area a good clean before removing it ;)

Its also worth checking your Crank Position Sensor. Its No.13 in Cathy's diagram, right underneath the alternator. If its this at fault then (when you do a proper diagnostic run) it will show up as code 11.

If this is not connected properly then you will get fuel and air, the engine will turn over and over but give you no spark. This is the one which should be disconnected when dry cranking after oil change.

:iagree:

Also worth checking the cam sensor. If either is disconnected or has a broken wire the car won't start. Cam sensor is on top of n/s head.

Na reason I have to sell it is I changed jobs lost my van so have to travel using the scoob so travelling to st Andrews from Livingston it's costing me nearly £200 a week and need something more reliable too

I know when it comes back from the garage I'll love it all over again trying to buy a wee run about and con the wife into letting me keep the impreza! Got a forester too so wouldn't be totally Subaru less!!

Neil

Ps it's an MY93 so it's 18 years this only got 130k on it
