14N-FR Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 My advice would be not to drive your car at all now you know the headgasket is on its way out. I had mine diagnosed and drove the car 35 miles and then two of the piston's over heated causing the ringlands to crack and gouge the cylinder bore. Greersport have just done a full forged rebuild for me with a MD321T so I have come out the other end with less cash but a quick car.
reako Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 i got mine back the other day. running brilliant! just got to run it in for a bit and take it back for an oil change. the sound off the new downpipe and uppipe is amazing!
jamesm Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 When I had all my problems after whacking a kerb where the car decided to chew every brake disc I put on thereafter, I spent near on a £1000 at two different popular garages for them to bolt on brand new bits which didn't fix it. A combination of a hunch Terzo Neil had together with similar advice from Stevie at Scottish Subarus saw me get Scottish Subarus to change the hub carrier for a cheap second hand bit. The car has been right as rain ever since although I do expect to change the bearing in the 'new' hub carrier somewhere down the line as I have no idea of the history of the part. I wish I went go for the so called 'cheap' option right from the start.
scooby222 Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 might also be worth giving RA motorsport a ring for a price to compare too as theyre not too far from you either. i always use them for my car but still ring other places for a price just to make sure
