Just checked quotes for my Catalunya and I'm really pleased with them....put it into storage for the winter and sorned it...mot has ran out and the insurance lapsed (by mistake! :( ) just had a quote for £386....only £1 more expensive than last year :) ...I only have 1 year NCD as each car is insured separate and the Wag has the full NCD

Maybe the "women paying the same insurance as men" now hasn't took effect yet LOL :P

23 years old with 5 years ncb. £1900 for a wrx.

Oh ya jobby! :o

Mind you, back in the mid '90s I used to pay the best part of £1K to insure a Vauxhall Calibra (8v non-turbo, wow!), so relatively speaking your premium doesn't seem too outrageous considering the performance of the WRX :)

Cant wait to hit the magic 25!

TBH, I don't think it really works that way... at least I never saw any significant reduction when I turned 25 or 30. Just gradually went down, save for a couple of blips caused by an at-fault claim and a hefty speeding fine (you live and learn, eh?).

Maybe stating the obvious, but the best thing you can do is avoid crashing or having your license endorsed...

Look on the bright side, that's a helluva nice high-performing car to be driving at 23!

When i turned 25 my insurance halved in price and that was going from tpft to fully comp aswell. Partly due to new insurer having an over 25 limit on the car.

Fair enough Gaz, but I'll be surprised if it works out that way for reako...

E.g. Another year's NCB at 24 should reduce his premium a bit from £1800, and then if it were to halve when he reaches 25, he should be paying less than about £800 by that time. In that case, I'll be asking him to let me know who he's with because that's not a huge amount more than I'm paying in my mid-thirties with 12 years NCB, zero points, zero at-fault claims and not staying in Glasgow! ;)

I don't go for big excesses (think mine's £250 in total), so perhaps that's one reason why mine isn't lower, but I do always shop around!

Remember our wonderful government has sneaked insurance premium tax up from 5% > 20% this year yet another stealth tax barstewards, my sons 1.4 seat was £1447 with two years NCB

Aye, £1100-ish sounds fairly believable for another year older (at your age) plus other year's NCB. Building up that NCB made a bigger difference than age, I found... pays to keep it intact ;)

Only thing to watch is that sometimes when you're getting online quotes from your current insurer, they give cheaper quotes when they think you're a 'new' customer to try and lure you in. Come renewal time you often find yourself being quoted more as an existing customer! Bams!

I was about £1400 last year with 0 years NCB, garaged, 5k miles, 28 years old, v2 classic.

Renewal came in at over £1450 with quick fit plus free MOT. Shopped around and got it down a bit, called Keith Micheals and they have got it down to £650 now moving my house insurence, business insurence and anything I can to them. Great service, great prices and the same person on the phone when you call back! :headbang:

How do you think they can afford to offer premiums that are so much lower?

Genuine question – I don't know the answer, but I do wonder...

just a wee insight here a 17 year old bought a p reg 1.2 4dr corsa from my work this week with 20k on it cost him £900 with service n year mot cost him £2200 to insure and that was adding his dad on insurance to make it cheaper wtf :brickwall:

In that case I don't think the value of the insured car is even relevant... they're probably more concerned that he's going to go straight out in that Corsa and crash into a showroom full of new BMWs!

Hi Bobby,

I am with Aviva for mine, £420 for a 2006 Hawkeye STi, I have hunners of NCD, live in quiteville, it's garaged - and I'm 39 which also helps. The insurance premium tax went up to 6% this year from 5% on the 4th January, it was the VAT that went up from 17.5% to 20%.

Nobody ever said running a Scoob would be cheap - but the insurance world sure know how to charge.

Cheers

Gary
