Hi, going to see a 55 wrx in WR blue tomorrow, almost 200 miles from me in Garelochhead, was looking at a nice 05 wrx 300, however just missed that, another guy was driving to see it when I phoned, any advice on what I should look out for would be appreciated, would post the link from autotrader for you to see if only I knew how ?

Thanks

Hi, welcome, check the usual stuff..... service history, should have been done every 9,000 miles though some guys do the oil every 4,500 miles, cam belt should have been changed at 50,000 miles. Receipts for any mods that have been done. Chek the MOT's for mileage each year to make sure things add up. Apart from that it's the usual, hopefully the engine will be cold when you get there so you can check for blue smoke on start up. Give it a good test drive, don't go over 3250rpm till it's fully warmed up, after that give it a bootfull and check for smoke in the rear view mirror. The shocks on these cars tend to knock and that either means a rebuild or new shocks.

Check in Scoobypedia there's a buyers guide in there.... it's the one i used when i got my 54 plate WRX.

Thanks, will check out the buyers guide.

Ok, to post your link to the page with the scoob on it, go to the page the car is on in autotrader, when you see the car you are looking at look at the top of your web browser and it wil say something like www.autotrader.co.uk .....

do a right hand click with your mouse or a double click and copy link.

Come back on to sidc and reply....... right hand click then select paste! PS you are only five miles from me!

Hi, thanks for the info, just back from Englandshire with the car, like it alot, big smiles and more, car is in good order for it's age.

Does the fact it could be an import affect it in any way ? did an hpi check didn't say anything about it being an import.

Cheers

The fact that it is an import does reduce its value and can in some cases increase insurance costs. As Grieg mentioned above there are also some items that are standard on UK cars that are not on the imports.
