neill54 Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 I've got an up pipe to be fitted cause mines is burst is it easier to remove the headers then fit the up pipe then refit the headers? Looked at how to do just the pipe itself but it seems a bit of a mare!! Neil
Wee Jock Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 Think mine went on with removing the headers!
arch Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 You need to remove the headers first, then disconnect the nuts that connect your engine mounts to the subframe and jack the engine a little bit just to give you enough room to bring the uppipe down past the subframe, dont forget to remove your pitch stop as well.
neill54 Posted January 28, 2011 Author Posted January 28, 2011 Cheers guys I'll be sure to remove that pitch stop arch ! That's if I knew what that ef it's is!! Neil
euan_r Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 Ive done the job a few times now. Yes you need to remove headers or just that side of them. as above undoing engine mounts gives the extra room required to remove if heatshields are still inplace but ive never removed pitch stopper as engine only needs up less than a inch. Ive never managed to undo uppipe rear bolts without removing downpipe though, even bought one of those flexi head ratchet spanners but was unsuccesful. How have you guys manged without? Crows foot sockets?
arch Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 Its not the heat shields that catch on the subframe its the upper flange as it comes down through the channel in the subframe. Its easier to remove the headers at the heads.
