grantr Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 Hoping somebody will be able to help here. I'm looking to sell my STi but don't see anything similar to get an idea what it's worth. Being offered silly trade in prices (£5.5k) so thinking private sale will be the only option. World Rally Blue, 04 plate Sti Type UK Prodrive PPP MOT till July Full Subaru service history, 72000 miles. Pretty good condition all round 18" Prodrive alloys Prodrive grill kit New suspension all round, new front discs and pads Rough idea would be appreciated!
mystery machine Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 (edited) Doesn't seem to be too many Blob STIs for sale ATM, so it's hard to come up with a realistic figure... FWIW, Parker's reckons £6,450 for a private sale of a good-condition '04 STI with 60,000 miles. Take a wee bit off for your higher mileage and add a wee bit on for your PPP and that figure might not be a bad starting point. Maybe weigh-in with a higher price if you're not in a rush to sell? As nice as the alloys, grille and new suspension/brake parts might be, I doubt whether they add much value to the car - more things to point out when the haggling starts, eh? JMO. You could ring around the dealers and ask what they're going for ATM, but it's hard to escape the fact it's in their interests to undervalue your car in the hope that you'll come around to their place and trade it in for peanuts! http://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/used-prices/Valuation.aspx?deriv=24719&plate=75#amount=7000&years=3 Edited January 10, 2011 by Mystery Machine
mystery machine Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 P.S. What are you thinking of replacing it with, out of curiosity?
W88CHY Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 Been loking at Impreza's myself again, miss my last STi They seem to have taken a hit since I last had one, and don't take offence but I think your looking at between low 6k to 6.5k mark IF you can find a buyer. There is a Blob STi on eBay sitting at £6.5k as a classified ad with slightly lower miles - that should give an idea. The extras, hmmmm either sell them and put it back to original if you can or take a hit on them as they more often than not make little difference in my experiance to the price - just make the car more desirable to the right person. Good luck!
grantr Posted January 10, 2011 Author Posted January 10, 2011 Cheers guys, much appreciated. Looks like the 5.5k trade offer wasn't that ridiculous after all. Lost a mint on it after 2.5 years of driving the car but need to move to something cheaper to insure and run, Focus ST the most likely candidate, saves me £500 on the insurance for starters.
scooby222 Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 unfortunately the reasons your changing are hitting everyone hard mate, impreza's are a nightmare to sell these days - its no reflection on your car. thats why mine is staying put and becoming more hardcore
kewe Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 http://www.whatcar.com/valuations/result?makeId=23443&modelId=23602&editionId=23616&yearId=15&mileage=72000 So probably about £5.5-£6K? I may be in the hunt for one very soon if you were interested in a cheaper p/x + cash?
arch Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 Sell everything non standard and put the car back to standard and trade it in.

Don`t buy the focus st mine was worse on fuel then the scoob. id go for Megane R26 for the same money you get better seats better brakes a lsd plus lots more and they do about 28mpg cutting about i was getting 17mpg out the focus and that was what the computer said fuk knows what it actually was
mystery machine Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 Don`t buy the focus st mine was worse on fuel then the scoob. And front-wheel drive, although apparently not everyone feels the benefit of AWD...
Spaceman Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 aye fwd was pish and that awd is way overated lol RWD is the way forward esp in the snow..... hey mystery keep an eye out for me in a red bmw m sport touring.
mystery machine Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 (edited) AWD is good - rear-biased AWD is even better But aye, reckon my next car will be RWD, with a naturally aspirated engine, maybe mid-mounted (thinks he's an F1 driver), maybe only two seats..... So is that the Hawk gone then? Nice choice of motor with the BM, BTW (for an estate, granda!). Which engine? Dinnae be tellin' us it's a TDi noo Get a set of spare wheels with winter tyres and you'll be fine in the snow in your BM Edited January 13, 2011 by Mystery Machine

No need to worry bout winter anyways got my 32 year old 88" Landy.
mystery machine Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 Yup scoob was sold in 4 hours my record so far for selling a car. But everyone around here says that Hawkeyes are unsaleable? 330 straight six Diesel lol 231bhp model goes really well and handles great with all the toys (48mpg bombing back home with it too lol).... Never mind about 231bhp, think of all that torque - fair bit more than a standard Hawk STI I would think? I'm generally not a fan of TDs, but that BM 3L 6cyl must be one of the very best diesel engines money can buy - nice choice
