darryll Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 I have a yellow car that has decided to fade like the rest but fancy painting it back to its old self , do u think people would become a bit suspect if i ever came to sell it wondering why its been painted,There is no damage on the car and it has all its panels that it left factory with apart from carbon bonnet.
StrikE Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 A paint correction or detail should bring the shine back, you would be amazed at the results & way cheaper than a respray.
notsosmall Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 I may only need a machine polish to restore it's shine and colour! Much cheaper than a respray too What make is the car? And where are you?
darryll Posted January 4, 2011 Author Posted January 4, 2011 alrighty guys car is a 2 door type r, tried machine and was total waste off time also had paint tested and there isnt much paint on the car its ultra thin. the car isnt dull it does shine but plastic bits r different colour just looks bad .
scooby222 Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 if you do get it sprayed take loads of pics of it as it is,ie faded but undamaged so you can explain why it was done shouldnt put anyone serious off, shows your serious about having the car at its best

C_WRX Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 (edited) You can get the paint depth all checked out by e.g. Paul at Ultimate Shine (resides on here). He'll tell you for sure if a machine polish is possible and/or worthwhile for sure. If it is for a respray then wouldn't be too worried about it come sale time, if they ask just be honest that due to its age and your pride in the cars looks cause of some dulled areas you had it resprayed. Depending on how the work is paid for (being your cousin that'll be doing it) if there's a receipt then maybe have it noted on there that it was just a respray & no panel correction/replacement took place. Take a few pics of it sitting in the bodyshop before and after (okay so a camera date can be messed about with!). Edited January 5, 2011 by C_WRX
mystery machine Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 If the existing paintwork's unsavable, then I'd say go for it. Might also be worth asking the garage to state on the receipt that the respray was for cosmetic reasons and not part of an accident repair. You having the engine bay, panel undersides, etc done too?
