Introducing the new Aberdeen RO

Recommended Posts

Evening boy and girls, with me now moving up to the committee, it's come time for me to step down as Aberdeen's RO. I wish to give my personal thanks To Blair for stepping up to the post of RO, I know that he is well liked in the area, and I have no doubts that he will be great for the local area!

and finally, I'd like to give many thanks for your support for my time in the post, it's been a pleasure! :biggrinsanta:

Why is that then? Who decides who becomes an RO whats the process? Surely it's not just a case of I dont want this roll as RO anymore so I'll just give it to the first person I meet kind of thing.

Seems a little underhanded to me.

and I make it four and a half years going by your join date lol :biggrinsanta:

Curious, it's definitely been longer than that... perhaps that's when I became a paid member? but I was definitely on the board before that... I've had the turbo for 4 years, and the shed for 2 years before that...

Anyways, ROs have always been on a volunteer basis, when I became RO, I just stepped forward and said that I would do it... I actually asked Blair if he fancied doing it, because I think that he will do a good job for the area, and I honestly believe that!

You are always welcome to help out though Dunk! :)

Speaking of which, I haven't seen you at any meets in well over a year... how you keeping? ;)

First of all thanks to Dale for asking me to become RO for Aberdeen. Its something I never though I would be asked but a welcome shock.

I am pleased to take on the role and am looking forward to help both bring the club forward and gather up more intrest in the local area. I have met a few Subaru owners recently who know nothing about the club so I will continue to attend various car/club meets and hopefully get some new members.

Dunk I am sorry if you feel that I was given the position in an underhanded way but I was and still am unaware of the full roles/responsibilities/procedures (still reading through the mountains of threads to play catch up  ) and simply took on the role as I was asked. I can assure you I gave it quite a bit of thought to make sure I can dedicate enough time to the role.

Congrats Blair. I look forward to seeing what you have planned for the area.

Dale - Thanks for all the time and effort you put into the role as RO and all the best of luck with what you've taken on in place of it! :)

Nice to have a volunteer to take over from Dale, the RO's forum is a lot suggestions for the future of the club.

Yeah its good reading alright - but there is quite a lot of it!

Well done Blair for taking on the RO role, especially as I'm sure it's sometimes be seen as 'one of those things someone else does'. Obviously, I've know Dale a good while and we have supported each other here and there and attended each others meets etc. Hopefully we'll be able to cacth up at a meet sometime and compare notes
