thebigfelly Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 (edited) was a little bit wet last night was on my way back from the the pictures at ocean terminal , had a nice driver in a bmw driving up my rear most the way from ocean terminal riding right on my bumper making me have to break later at lights all the way up to milton road junction, then trys to under take me and cut infront another near accident all because im going the legal road speed and not flooring it , maybe he was thinking im a wee boy racer just because the scoob is stickered up or maybe because its just a scoob i was in , but i wasnt biting , get to the roundabout at the jewel next to the big asda just as you pull onto the bypass , and as i start to go up it and pull away from the bmw drivier the boost kicks in 3.5 thousand revs and the back end slides out a bit and turns slightly into the right hand lane .. luckily nothing in the right hand lane and quick reaction from me easing of the gas and turning the wheel back into the left probably saved me + the good lady siting sideways over both lanes , wasnt expecting that to happen as i didnt floor it completely to pull away fi the bmw but was definatley a brown moment for the missus , and an adrenaline rush for me , but the main thing is , i still got away from the bmw is there anything that can be done to reduce the chances of this happening again? running on eagle f1's , Edited September 2, 2010 by thebigfelly

If not, don't do owt till that is done! I use Eagle F1s, assymetric ones though, and find they are excellent in all conditions - perhaps diesel on the road?

st3ph3n Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 Brake test the knobend the next time. When I had the scoob I was always a fan of just throwing on the fogs and coming off the gas - slows you down but not by braking - but they think you've hit the brakes. Or if they were still persistant then it was left foot brake then mash the throttle with the right. You can really cause someone issues with that one. If someone is going to tailgate me then they get that or a wee gesture.

d5orr Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 (edited) must be a bad road that A1 last night! i smacked a fox just past musselburgh in mine not to much damage but needing a front fog cover and the little winglet bit on the side of the bumper! car is 04 sti in blue if anyone reads this and has or knows of anyone who has any parts kickin about Edited September 2, 2010 by d5orr
supremeweb Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 We use Eagle F1's on the 02 and will lose traction when pushing hard in the wet in both 2nd and 3rd gear. I just keep the power down and either play with the drift or steer into it calmly and the 4wd sorts everything. mmmmmmm drifting!
st3ph3n Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 I think I had so much confidence in the scoob from driving it for so long that I knew exactly what it was capable of in a left foot brake test situation. It's certainly not something I've been trying in the Clio!
cullenmin Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 That roundabout at asda is quite slidy in damp conditions, always is for some reason as I have had my civic sliding straight on it Rich
mystery machine Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 Maybe stating the obvious, but how's the tread on your rear tyres vs. the front?
mystery machine Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 And you don't have an especially thick ARB on the back or owt like that?
thebigfelly Posted September 3, 2010 Author Posted September 3, 2010 And you don't have an especially thick ARB on the back or owt like that? nope no thick arb on rear and tread is fine , just a slightly squint rear wheel lol
mystery machine Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 nope no thick arb on rear and tread is fine , just a slightly squint rear wheel lol Do you mean 'fine' as in 'the same or more tread at the back than the front'? Squint wheel might not help either, I suppose
