scooby222 Posted July 12, 2010 Posted July 12, 2010 after using the new tesco momentum 99 yesterday for the first time didnt think the car was pulling too well - never had a problem with their regular 99 so was it just a bad tank or whats anyone else found?
StewartyBoy Posted July 12, 2010 Posted July 12, 2010 Some cars don't respond too well to that type of fuel. What Spec is the car?
scooby222 Posted July 12, 2010 Author Posted July 12, 2010 05 sti remapped for 99 ron fuel, never had a problem with it before - just since it became momentum
StewartyBoy Posted July 12, 2010 Posted July 12, 2010 They must've changed the additive mixture they use. Maybe one to look into!
geosub Posted July 12, 2010 Posted July 12, 2010 I haven't noticed any difference, but been taking it easy as i'm going for another remap this friday. Will be interesting to see if anything shows up.
Midnight21 Posted July 12, 2010 Posted July 12, 2010 I haven't noticed any difference either.... but I once had a bad batch from Tesco
phil1967 Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 hi guys tesco momentum'99 hasn't changed at all all they have done is re-branded it,its still made by a company called greenergy and is suplied via boat to nu-star oil terminal in clydebank and delivered by me and a few other drivers around the country.
scooby222 Posted July 13, 2010 Author Posted July 13, 2010 cheers Phil, just a bad fill then - thats a relief, saves another 10 miles to shell for go go juice!
ashleywrx Posted July 18, 2010 Posted July 18, 2010 cheers Phil, just a bad fill then - thats a relief, saves another 10 miles to shell for go go juice! Funny I filled my car with Tesco 99 and the car did not run well. I put it down to the petrol station running their tanks low rather than the fuel but I wonder if it is in fact the fuel itself?
scooby222 Posted July 18, 2010 Author Posted July 18, 2010 looks like bad batch but that said i havent been back to try again......interesting to hear someone else with the same experience and welcome along mate!
Gumball Posted October 25, 2010 Posted October 25, 2010 Propelled myself to springburn this evening to try it on my standard car. lets see what happens. Saying that, the way I drive i wouldnt notice anyway. Note to self. you drive an impreza
Dougs Scoob Posted October 25, 2010 Posted October 25, 2010 Iv'e almost always used momentum. Cant feel any difference between it and shells V-power and never noticed the car struggling on it. Is V-power a better quality fuel to use?
scooby doom Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 Iv'e almost always used momentum. Cant feel any difference between it and shells V-power and never noticed the car struggling on it. While there may have been a negligible difference when used in the old WRX can't say I've noticed anything in the STi.
scooby222 Posted October 26, 2010 Author Posted October 26, 2010 well ive been running on both since my original post and i feel a slight improvement in throttle response on vpower but small enough to be mental (bit like me ) so i think i can say it was a bad tank of fuel that time good job really as we seem to be losing vpower stations all over the shop these days
Hightower Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 i have used both over the last few days and have not noticed any difference to be fair, montrose and back tank of juice
wrxmania Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 i have used both over the last few days and have not noticed any difference to be fair, montrose and back tank of juice I am now going to run entirely on Tesco 99 I think, mainly due to the continuously appalling stock level of fuels at Shell Whitburn. Tesco is never out of stock and I am fed up going out of my way to specifically go there and they have no fuel (as for the last 5/6 days until today...). After being closed for months I hoped they would have sorted their supply situation - it was like this (and worse pre-shutdown) for years... Brian
Gumball Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 Seems to be good stuff so far. Not only is the car operating well under the new fuelling conditions, it also goes further ! Instead of 22 miles for the first quarter, I have a whole 39 !! wooooo
scooby222 Posted October 27, 2010 Author Posted October 27, 2010 39? i think you need to use the pedal over on the right more sir - thats right aaaaaall the way to the floor
Hightower Posted October 29, 2010 Posted October 29, 2010 my last wr1 would come down to 7mpg, 1/4 tank in 15 min. smiles per miles were very high though
Gumball Posted October 29, 2010 Posted October 29, 2010 LOL. I still havent caned it. I dont know whats wrong with me ! In yesteryear the car would be screaming for a new owner
