Keeping Oe Parts Once Modded?

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

Wondered what members do with their OE parts once you have replaced them with modded parts?

I have my original exhaust parts left over after modding ( twin pea-shooter backbox etc). Also panel filter, springs, few other bits. Is there any value in holding on to them??

I have noticed that some members pop up with bits and bobs for other members that they have left over lying at the back of the garage. I think thats a good thing but im limited for space, are they worth keeping or just for chucking out? Are they worth anything as scrap? I wouldnt know.

I doubt I would turn my car back to standard to sell it ( I have no plans to sell ). Seems alot of hassle in doing that, my car is mapped.

Any suggestions?

If your not planning on selling up then i would sell (if you can) the OE parts that you have taken off. The only thing about a modified car is the market for buyers can be smaller so having the original parts to put back on can be a good thing.

Marko,

If you've not got the room to keep the parts then DON'T just throw them out. There's not usually much money in OEM parts, but they always come in handy for fellow owners.

Why not have a rummage through all your bits and post a list up in the for sale section?

I realy depends on what it is. When i uprated the anti-roll bars i binned the standard ones as they had no paint and were old and rusty. Removed my PPP ECU and stuck it on ebay and got over £400. Also my Alcon 4 pots will be going on ebay once they are removed.

Most bits are worthless to most people but feel free to post them on ebay you never know what people may need

I laugh every time I see someone trying to sell orange indicators. There are so many sitting about they are practically worthless.

There's nothing wrong with many OE part (still got a few left on my car) but if any have come off of my car I've either sold them or given them away depending on what they're worth or how long they've been sitting about.

After you go past stage 1 the cost and agro of putting a car back to standard just isn't worth it in my opinion.

Hi folks.

After consideration I will not be just binning the bits. I will hold on to them and post up a list of bits soon, so someone else can benefit, or as said above ebay them and see what happens.

Thanks. :rotfl:
