Started to get a cel comes and goes when it does come on the engine will stumble at tickover but when you drive it drives as it should then cel goes. Cel code 24 on a 96/97 wrx. Any ideas anyone.

Big D would be the man to tell you but IIRC that code is the Idle Control Valve which fits with the symptoms. I know it can be cleaned with carb & clutch cleaner but I'm afraid I've never done it to offer any advice.

I have the same problem with mine, I have tried a second hand idle control valve which didn't solve the problem, I have now fitted a new unit but the problem persists.

Looked on net about cleaning as sujested also read to clean and check conections between solenoid and ecu, if you put on a new unit would think wireing mybe? Let you know how i get on. Thanks for replys

Got mine running properly today, changed the ECU temperature sender. Cost £30 from imprort car parts.
