Would You Pay...

Would you pay £800 for a private plate?

Found one I quite like with my initials and name, RR55 RAB but not sure I want to fork out that much money...

Do they tend to fluctuate in price much? Anyone else got lucky through eBay or any other websites?

Depends on what you are looking for ,how specific or just one close enough.I got my plate from the DVLA ,have you tried them as a lot of company's will advertise the plate on there site even if it is on the DVLA site .This would mean paying an inflated price ,mine was £250 that includes the assignment fee too :D

I want one that says RAB, but they are all pretty expensive. I thought I had a link in the 1st post but seem to have missed it off - it's £799 on the DVLA site.

There is a taxi firm called Rab's Taxis near me, and they have RAB on all their plates - perhaps I could phone up and see if they have spares they are willing to sell.

I think if I was looking for a private plate, my personal limit woudl be 500 for the right one... Luckily enough I got mine for £250 as it doesn't mean much to anyone other than myself..

As Kenny says, don't be drawn in by resellers.. Go direct to DVLA.. they WILL be cheapest for unregistered plates! All the resellers bascially buy from DVLA and sell to you on demand, look very closely for additional costs from resellers... they don't own the plates.. Unless you buy from a private seller who already owns the plate.

Just remember that the '55' part of the plate will date subsequent vehicles in the future and possibly annoy you as my plate from 02 DEL annoyed me. £800 for RR55 RAB would be too pricey though.

Funny this topic coming up today, I just bought a plate off Ebay a couple of weeks ago. T3 RDW I couldn't believe I got it for £51 inc all fees being already paid. Anyway the seller was a bit stroppy but I got the document in the end.

I fitted it to my car today.

It doesnt mean anything to me it just takes the age away from my car.

I noticed a 1 letter 1 number went last week on Ebay for £122.
