A11YKF
I recently bought a type r with knackered bottom end from a friend which is still sat at his house as I've been away. I get back today an recieved a call from him telling me someone attempted to steal it last night. I've still not seen it but apparently they tried to hot wire it but he had disconnected the battery to stop it draining until i came to collect it although with the state of the engine even if they got it started it wouldn't have gone anywhere (so if any of you on here might be one of those scabby little minks then it won't be worth your time trying to take that car from there again its a non runner) When the police came to take statements forensics etc they informed him that it was the 11th Impreza theft in Aberdeen this month, I don't know if this is true or not but just wanted to let you all know on here to maybe take a little bit extra care incase there is a gang or someone specifically targeting scoobies. Hopefully someone catches them before anyone else becomes a victim. Link to comment
RA Dunk
I have heard quite a few reports of incidents like this up here so there seems to be something in it right enough. Link to comment

kairawrx
Thats kinda worrying... Is there any 'good idea' security 'things' (besides a good alarm) that we can throw at the imprezas to prevent them being taken away? Link to comment
thefastone
11th? bloody hell... thats a massive number, surprised no one has mentioned it before now... Link to comment

feckdeamon
I was stopped a couple of weeks ago - apparently a scoob same colour, model etc as mine had been stolen and my reg was one letter different to theirs! (T*** ASO vs T*** ASU) Link to comment
supremeweb
I have good alarms on all cars, barky dogs at the window, security light and live in a street with curtain twitching neighbours. Also have CCTV and a tracker. Dont waste your time with steering locks as they will get them off in seconds and cause major damage doing so. Not good if they get disturbed and dont steal the car. I have hidden switches in my cars that through relays cause certain wires to be open, thus car will not start and even if they remove imobiliser they can not hotwire very easily. Just remember these theifs are very compitent and are experts at stealing, nothing will truely stop them it will just take them longer. Get a cheap CCTV system and point a camera at your car with a sign on the dash warning they are on camera. Or get a fake camera or two. Link to comment
