  1. Welcome to the SIDC lady! Glad you got in eventually
  2. You'd think with us invading almost every oil-producing country in the world we'd be able to get it cheap... As soon as they announced 'considering' cutting fuel prices, they went up 5p... So we're still 4p worse off..
  3. I have 3 classics just now. 2x '95 WRXs and a '99 2000-turbo with an early STi engine. They've all been attacked with spanners and bolt-ons though so none are even remotely pure... I am getting to the point where I'd like to get my hands on a mint, standard classic and keep it that way..
  4. Thats kinda worrying... Is there any 'good idea' security 'things' (besides a good alarm) that we can throw at the imprezas to prevent them being taken away?
  5. Shocker! http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/82285
  6. its definately an interesting case... I only found out about the phases of engines because I'm offering up a 1.5 manifold to a 1.0 engine for front-entry turbo purposes, then I found a friend's phase 2 manifold and noticed the stark differences between the three...
  7. I'm willing to be wrong about this as usual, but if your engine's the phase-1.5, your inlet manifold wont fit the phase 2. The 1.5's manifold bolts are in a straight line, whereas the phase 2's are a diagonal pattern. Couldnt say about sensors tho.
  8. Wish I could make it. Cost me about £500 for the round trip from Shetland tho - and thats before fuel Hope some of you guys take pics and results for those of us not getting there! Best of luck.
  9. Hilarious! Seems no matter what happens in the world these days, there's a subtitled hitler video to go with it!
  10. A tea-pot sized chunk of chocolate might actually be worth a fiver.. . . Do you have any pics? :D
  11. I might have to bring that up with them... The explosion hasnt happened yet but she's very much aware it arrived... I dont know how I'll get away with the more expensive mods thats to follow...... Anyone have a 6-speed 'box lying around??
  12. Oh no chap - its all Aruna Seth these days. £650 for a pair of shoes that u cant see for the dress.... X(
  13. Bloody hell. If they hadnt plastered the box with their logo the wife would have never known I blew £200-odd quid on an oil pump when she 'needs' that money to buy herself more shoes for the wedding...
  14. When and where is this happening lads?? Sounds like something to see! Join the RAC and take no prisoners - I love that - that man's a hero.
  15. When the cam sensor turned dodgy on my GC8 WRX, it always ran fine when it was running, but sometimes it would just never start at all. Often had to park it up a hill as it would bumpstart just fine, but would never go off the key. Also - it never showed a CEL, but it did show up on a self-diagnostic. Mate of mine bought an Evo-6 TME, which started having problems with some sort of electronic driver aid or other, and when he tried a diagnostic, he found that the previous owner had removed the CEL bulb from the dash Must say I'm very impressed with the level of support and input people get here. Just wish I'd found this 6 years ago when I started driving WRXs...
  16. One of my mates had a rally-replica Escort (I.e. - he bought massive mudflaps for it), but he put the damned things on so low that they dragged along the road and flipped up every single chip that passed under them. I've hated big mudflaps ever since My first WRX had about a half dozen large dents in the bonnet, and probably as many stone chips in the window from some dumb **** audi driver that insisted on continuing to try and pass me on the wrong side of the road at over 80mph going through a blind corner as we crested a hill. I figured he'd back off when he realised it was getting stupid, but alas I had to ease off and let him by instead of letting him cause the inevitable accident. Dragged up about a million stones as he crossed the centreline in front of me (single carriageway btw). Was as mad as ****. His recklessness cost me a lot of paint and glass...
  17. Thats really bad luck chap. But look at it this way - a BMW would have been written off as soon as this snowy snap started!! And for what its worth, I've almost crashed my little John-Deere snow-plough in the ice here a dozen times Hope you get another one lad. Glad you're okay.
  18. Yes indeed. My mile of road has been snowed in this morning, but the WRX is undercover anyway with no front on it thanks to a burst 90 degree water hose from my water pump... Luckily I had a silicone hose in my pile of spares
  19. Cheers - and congrats on your Autotest records! Saw a few of u guys' videos on youtube or somewhere. Would love ta be that good at it!
  20. Hi every1, I'm Ryan Arthur, from Out Skerries in Shetland. Just joined this week, and like what I see so far! I'm on a rock in the middle of the sea with about 1 mile of road to play with, I drive my second GC8 WRX, both are imports, bought the second as a rolling shell and transplanted most of the first one into it myself. Its got a Tommy Kaira bumper (was on the first WRX when it came across from japan), which has been crash damaged and repaired twice now. First time by a previous owner, second time by me. And yes - before you say it - I did hit a sheep with it... Dont read anything into that. I dont do that kinda thing ;D Its also got a front-mount intercooler, 4-pot front brakes, ratty old 17" alloys (I have new ones, just not on yet ) GTR-style spoiler, Tein coilovers, HKS exhaust (but put smaller tailpipe on it while it was the sole family car (got a Passat now so the 4" is going back on) I put a towbar on it - see family car comment - its got an HKS SSQV2 and turbo timer, Blitz boost gauge and ESBC controller, Trust air intake (with parts from K&N). Binned a cheapo fuel pressure regulator after massive big-end failure which I havent found another cause for yet.. Other gauges include fuel-air ratio and oil temp and pressure. Someone stole my oil catch tank so thats not on yet.. Uprated the fuel pump. Its running a Z4 ECU but I have a 'remapped' Mines one too. Whiteline strut brace up front and a derestricted exhaust header kit (unequal length of course!) which I havent installed to this engine yet. Speaking of which - its a closed-deck STi engine but at the moment, its completely stock internally. Clutch is Exedy stage 1 organic, but I'm a little scared to be too brutal with it. Just cant afford anything better yet. Most of the coolant hoses are Samco, or another silicone hose manufacturer. There's probably more but i cant really remember it all offhand. I've stripped a UK turbo and most of my first WRX (anyone (The SIDC Muppet-O-Tron has corrected your lazy use of the English language. Please use English and not text talk on these Forums) want D2 coilovers??) so I have a massive pile of spares. I tend to gather any impreza parts I can find between Ebay and my mates. Utterly love the Imprezas. I find them miles easier and cheaper to work on than Evos. I've also collected tons of workshop manuals for all the Imprezas except for the new hatchback, some parts manuals or tuning guides etc. All stored on my rapidshare account. Check out http://www.bebo.com/rallyslags - all the links to my manuals are under the photo albums. Some are crap, some are invaluable, have a look anyways.. Its messy, but that engine is dead now... Home made gauge pod Towing a copule of tons of trailer on to an inter-island ferry If you're still here reading, congratulations, I cant normally hold anyone to a Subaru related conversation this long Best wishes for 2010. Ryan Arthur
  21. Neither of my GC8 WRXs (imports) have had the sensor plugged in to the loom from the downpipe/decat and it never showed a CEL or flashed up on a diagnostic. Should be okay.
  22. Forget the HKS SSQV unless you have a FMIC, it doesnt sound like an SSQV is supposed to (just a rather lame hiss), I guess there's not enough volume of compressed air unless u have miles of FMIC pipework. I almost sent mine back for being a cheap imitation until I put it on a mate's Evo (who also uses an SSQV) and realised it worked after all. Then I installed a FMIC Now it chirps, whooshes, whistles and chatters etc. Its not to everyone's taste, but I bloody love it.
