A11YKF
After a long period of being with out a subaru I bit the bullet yesterday an decided to purchase an engine damaged MY98 Type R. Problem is the current owner believes the bottom end is knackered so my question to you all firstly is, where do I take it to have it repaired? The car is in Aberdeen so I was thinking of maybe somewhere near by there but not essential. Secondly anyone got a rough idea how much the repair might cost? I know I obviously can't expect an exact price until the extent of the damage has been identified. Thirdly anyone got some reccomendations of what might be best to have done whilst this repair is done to give it a bit more power? I'm looking for a nice reliable 330-350bhp an at present trying to operate on a budget of 3k but I know this will no doubt get eaten up fast. Thanks in advance for any suggestions, Ally Link to comment
scouk
Not sure about costs, but since your location is inverness/nairn I'd give Dave at Bitz Motorsport in Nairn a bell I'm sure he'd be happy to help out.. They know their way around Imprezas! and you can keep an eye on your car locally If your looking more specifically aberdeen then possibly Wallace Performance.. but wasn't overly excited about the work done on my car juist switching a center pipe on the exhaust. Further south you've got AWD Motorsport in Perth.. And a few others, but havent dealt with any others personally. Link to comment
davey l wrx
There's a place in Nairn you can take it. Bitz Motor Sport they build and race subaru rally cars and really know their stuff, it's where mine goes for any work and they have a really good reputation. Give Dave a call... http://www.bitzmotorsport.com/ Link to comment
RA Dunk
SW Motorsport Edinburgh, Steve is responsible for some bonkers builds on here and my own very timid but 'with potential' one. Link to comment
scooby222
as said Bitz in nairn rally imprezas and have a good name, perth has AWD and RA motorsport developments, then hypertech in bonnybridge, sw motorsport in edinburgh and greer sport in beith - all have done good work on standard and uprated imprezas and should be reliable for your new purchase and welcome along to another 'nessian Link to comment
A11YKF
Cheers for the replies so far. Yeah I know Dave at Bitz he's always worked on my cars an I've never had any problems with what he has done. I might give him a shout an see what he thinks. I was more hoping for a few suggestions of somewhere that might do a wee package for me while they're doing that repair may as well have other stuff done kill 2 birds with one stone. Had a very brief look as don't have much internet access an thought myabe get a 2.5 conversion done or go for a 2.1 stroker kit from scooby clinic? Will i need to just keep throwing money at it once i do this to get everything else in line with it or will it maybe just be the odd bit here an there to change an have it running sweet? Also does SW have a website had a quick look but to no avail? Andy Forrest recommended i try them as well Link to comment
