Ovv Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 Fintry garage has a standard classic, has anybody bought anything from them or seen the car on the passing by chance? Im in Aberdeen everyday, but as I commute by train I cant get out to have a proper look until the end of the month, so if anybody has seen it and think its worth a look I would be grateful of a shout. Cheers
thefastone Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 NO idea to be honest, didn't even realise there was a garage there... I might pop out for you if I have time... You got a link to it?
supremeweb Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 I saw it in passing on my way to the stables the other day. Was atthe side of the road - if I am out there tomorrow I will go have a look.
arch Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 PM John S he is a moderator on here and lives local to the garage in question. I have passed it a few times and seen some interesting cars in there but John could def advise

Link here mate I saw it in passing on my way to the stables the other day. Was atthe side of the road - if I am out there tomorrow I will go have a look. If either of you could have a look, that would be great. Mileage and price seem spot on but the pics dont give much away in regards to the bodywork condition. Cheers Chris.

johns Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 I pass this place twice a day, but at 8am and 6pm, so it is always closed. Cars are on the forecourt though. Probably the earliest I could look during opening hours would be Saturday morning, so I could have a good look inside, hear it running and take it for a test drive etc. I've only got my car at work once more this week (car share on alternate days) and have a meeting that day, otherwise I could have picked you up one lunchtime to have a look over it. If next week isn't too late, then thats an option. Cheers John

Do they still do the Fintry Hill Climb? I remember going along to it when I stayed at my aunties farm which was pretty much opposite the track when I was alot younger. PM'd you back John, although Im not 100% positive that it went as my works computer froze on me. Let me know if you did get it.
thefastone Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 Yeah they do the hillclimbs there, in fact there was one just the other week... normally 3 a year I think there...?
johns Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 Got your PM OK - I'll go and look on Saturday morning for you Hill Climb - yes they do still run it, and Dale is right there was one just over a week ago. Great day out for not much money John

Great day out for not much money John Thanks John, will be much appreciated. Will be due you a Re the hillclimb, I used to go and watch, my aunties old farm was at the top of the big hill before you go down toward Hatton, me and some of the local lads I met used to wander over the fields and come out at the final hairpin turn to watch. Ahh.... those were the days. lol
quattroowner Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 I used to go past the garage all the time when on college bus from ellon to blackburn (clinterty) anyone remember the supra they had there?. .going for a stupidly high price!!. Anyone from round Inverurie area part of sidc?. . . be good to meet similar idiot's to myself:). cheerz
thefastone Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 Not anywhere near Inverrural myself, but there are quite a few members near that way... you should try getting along to a meet sometime!
ali37 Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 Looks like the same one I had a look at a while ago for a friend. Although the price and milage was ok, if i remember correct it had been modified then returned to standard - there was part of the air intake missing - think it was the intake elbow. Looked like it had a hard life and decided to leave it alone. I also used to go to Fintray school - many moons ago. My folks still stay next door to the hillclimb. Anyway, am sure John will confirm if the cars any good.

I missed one that looked exactly the same which was advertised in the P&J, same mileage, year, same amount of owners, even the pic looked the same. Wonder if he bought it cheap and is trying to make a quick buck by passing it through the garage? Those that drive past, can you remember seeing it there before last week?? Nice place Hatton of Fintry, I used to spend my summers there when I was like 12/13 - used to go shooting rabbits behind my aunt farm with a guy called Cameron Spence who lived up behind it and his mate, John who lived down in Hatton itself. Had some cracking times. Chris.

I think it was about 2 months ago, not sure if its the same owners now, but think they also used to own another garage over Potterton direction and used to swap stock back and forth every few months. Yes, know of your old mates - they were ages with my younger brother. Ali.

Ali. Cool Ali, thanks for that. So if it doesnt move at one garage, try shifting it to their other one, sneeky... different folk passing I suppose. Small world eh. Cheers Chris.
bladerunning Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 probably a bit late on the reply to this, but i dont think its a swap from garage to garage - as owner doesnt have another forecourt. this one has been there about 5 ish weeks? the 4k UK model has a couple owners, low mileage (50k ish iirc) very clean interior and a few scuffs around the bumper corners etc a pick of rust starting above the windscreen as usual. engine seems decent, no piston slap etc, and is standard apart from exhaust, fog lamp guards, 4 pots (bit strange mod for standard car?) and alloys. i have to say i didnt spend too much time on it as something told me there are better available at the price locally at the minute, so apologies for not being a full review. i went to see that one and the '98 '555' (which is actually a RA with front seats, door cards, elec windows and abs from a 555) with scabby arches, no engine mounts and generally in need of help. ended up buying neither

But did end up wasting my time looking at a supposed minter in Perthshire, see my other thread. Fingers crossed all going well, I should have something lined up this weekend. Good luck in the hunting, hope you find something soon.
