frankyboy Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 i changed my injectors from yellow to standered grey 1s i started the engine and blue smoke started coming out the back. took it for a run round the block cos i thought the smokey exhaust was just excess fuel from changing over the injector but had no power but it was still boosting but just not giving me any power any advice please

Its not the best idea to drive on boost after changing injectors unless the car has had some form of mapping to correct the fueling.

nightmare Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 sounds like dodgy advice to me mate i always thought if you change the injectors then a remap was needed cheers

nightmare Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 if the car was running fine before you changed them i would put them back in as the old saying goes if it aint broke then why fix it

terzo neil Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 the car runs an 8S ecu which is a standard uk ecu for years 97-98 same as my terzo which runs grey phase 1.5 injectors and which has a central coilpack and runs 0.8 bar of boost

frankyboy Posted April 26, 2010 Author Posted April 26, 2010 right just put old yelleow 1s back in and its still blowing blue smoke took it for a run in case it was just fuel in the cat but still no luck it seems fine just ticking over but after a couple minutes driving its starts getting smokey again

frankyboy Posted April 26, 2010 Author Posted April 26, 2010 just put all the grey injectors back in and to my surprise it has stopped smoking and boosting fine only a wee prob is there is a burning smell coming from the exhaust dont know if its burning oil now
Phil MC Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 Have you accounted for all the rubber seals from both sets of injectors? (I've just learned the hard way about how migrating washers can really ruin your day!!!!) What other work have you been doing on the car? You been fitting exhaust sections? Just trying to think what else, less sinister than a malfunction would cause you to have smoke then a burning smell. What is the smell? Rubber, oil, fuel?
frankyboy Posted April 26, 2010 Author Posted April 26, 2010 think i have sorted my problem im one cool dude lol right the smokey and smell from the exhaust was from un burnt fuel on the cat just bit the bullet let it run for half hour out side the house took her for a run on the m/way smoothly no boost got back no smell no smoke. let her cool down then took her out again no problems what so ever so thank you to everybody for there advice and concerns
