Had problems with the tax of the scoob the last time i taxed it. They wanted £405 quid and i argued the fact with them that the tax shouldnt be that much. Renewal is in and now only £245 for 12 months!! RESULT!!

gd gd but why did they try and charge u the higher amount ? thought it only changed in 2006/2007 to the higher tax band

Cars registered after 23rd March 06 pay the higher rates.

My car was imported and registered in March 2008 so therefore was put in the higher tax bracket. The logbook stated that it was just an Impreza STI. I contacted the DVLA and told them that it was a spec c and as there were no emmisions data for the spec c they couldn't throw it in the higher bracket. Well thats what i can gather from the whole thing anyway.

You're very lucky then, because part of the eSVA test the emissions are tested and added to the V5, technically if your car was imported and registered after the cut off date you should be paying £400+. Just be thankful for the muppets at the DVLA.

Yeah think it must be a mistake on their part. I wasn't complaining though, paid the £245 and just waiting for the new tax disc to arrive.
