CJE Posted March 20, 2010 Posted March 20, 2010 Hi all Noticed a small oil leak under the car a couple of days ago and have discovered that the sump plug is leaking - threads are stripped. Sump replacement looks like a fairly involved job, so I'm looking for some recommendations as to where to take it to get it done. Thanks Corrie

Thanks Corrie Corrie, Would it be possible to re-thread (clean the threads) with a tap and die set rather than replace the sump? get them for under a tenner on ebay so, well worth a shout before you head down the sump replacement route. TrackScotland Posted March 20, 2010 Posted March 20, 2010 yup, as above.... I also have a spare sump (EJ20) lying in the garage you can have for £10 if needs be. Its not pristine, but it doesnt leak.

CJE Posted March 20, 2010 Author Posted March 20, 2010 Cheers Gus. I'm guessing the threads will be goosed, so I'm contemplating taping out to a slightly bigger size and getting a bigger plug. This is a really common problem - I found loads of hits on Google for this sort of thing. Talk of taping and sealants but I'd like a good solid metal fix if I can. Thanks Corrie
