Anyone Recommend A Good Glass Cleaner?

I’m fed up with having a smeary windscreen, and wondered if anyone could recommend a good glass cleaner. I’ve treated myself to a set of Bosch Aero Twin wiper blades (after extensive research on this very forum!) and want to make sure the screen is as clean as I can get it before fitting them.

I’ve tried loads of things. AutoGlym glass polish is great for side and interior glass, but still smears under the wipers. Simoniz Mixra spray is a brilliant product, but its effects don’t last very long. And I’ve tried all manner of repellents like Rain-X, Rain Racer, Rain Devil none of which were smear free. Vinegar applied with kitchen roll doesn’t do a bad job, but there must be something better out therer.

Any help would be gratefully received.

I've been using AutoGlym for years and never had any issues with it smearing. Also use Rain-X but then you don't need wipers anyway  The secret to using both is to polish on and let them dry before wiping off the residue.

Also I found with using Bosch Aeroblades, they contact the windscreen much better across the entire wiper blade which also helps reduce smearing! Quite often smearing is caused by the blades themselves being dirty!

I use a wet micro fibre cloth on the windowscreen and another wet micro fibre cloth for the wiper's .They are better than a chamois leather

I find autoglym glass polish is very good but the weather just now and greasy roads are not good you just have to keep cleaning the windows

Also clean the wiper blades with vinegar

Use methylated spirit or turps/white spirit if it's that greasy - it will strip any grease or wax.

BUT keep it away from your paint or plastics.

I use this:

This is going to sound like a smear campaign, but it doesn't leave streaks like some of the more expensive products (e.g. Turtle Wax Glass Cleaner), doesn't smell of cat piss, and only costs about £3 from your local supermarket B)

Actually, when it comes to cleaning glass, the key is to use the right kind of cloth when removing the cleaning fluid. As others have suggested, a bone dry and completely clean microfibre cloth is just the ticket

Thanks for all the replies.

Despite the votes for Autoglym I haven't had good results with it - but maybe it's the cloth I'm using. So concensus for micro fibre cloths, which I will get, and think I'll try the Meguiars Glass Cleaner - if it's good enough for detailers it should be good enough for me.

I'll post back in a while and let you know how I get on.
