Petrol To Use

Hi all,

I have searched on here and found no difinitive answer, so thought I would just ask. What petrol should I use in my car, a 56 plate Hawkeye WRX (2.5 engine). There is a sticker on the inside of the fuel filler door that states that only 95 Ron petrol is to be used, which would mean only normal unleaded, but it seems a lot of people recomend the use of V power or Tesco 99 Ron.

Do I need to heed the advice of this sticker, or would I get any benifit from using the higher grade petrols?

I always used Shell V Power and wouldn't put anything else in.

You will get extra BHP on the V Power & BP Ultimate, not sure how the Tesco compares to both (probably bhp to be gained)

Running on the 95 RON for your car is ok, running on the others is costly........depends what you want.

i never thought that there would be any difference so never used the 99ron fuel in my civic type-r (reccomended 95)

the wife put in optimax and never told me. i was in the car the next day and was thinking to myself fook me pulling alot better and alot more responsive came home and mentioned it she told my that she had put it in. needless to say i was sold. so i pretty sure no problem in using it.

i have no choice now as the wr1 is 97ron minimun

there was a test(i think it was 5th gear)

optimax/vpower came out on top if i remember

if your car is standard 95 is ok, even if the thought of modifying it crosses your mind switch to either V-Power or Tescos 99

As above if modifying , remapping then 99 ron. I use Tesco 99, no V power near where I live.

Thanks Frank, might be convinced on this after seeing this clip.

Thanks to all who replied too, there will be some modding and poss a remap coming soon so will seriously think about changing to shell, the sooner the better i think.

Only V power for me too - it is the fuel of choice for sccobs!
